Are you sure she wasn't swimming in de Nile...(denial!)

RubberDuck Thu 09-Jul-09 12:52:36

That's the funniest thing I've read all day grin

TitsalinaBumsquash Thu 09-Jul-09 12:52:53

Yes i come out of the Swimming Pool every week worring about weather or not im pregnant after all there are <lowers voice> men in there...... shock

TigerFeet Thu 09-Jul-09 12:53:22

so that's how you get pregnant grin

whomovedmychocolate Thu 09-Jul-09 12:54:20

Yes, but it's fine as long as you go the butterfly stroke, then the sperm don't recognise you as a human species and leave you alone grin

SoupDragon Thu 09-Jul-09 12:55:03

The flip side is just how did that poor 13 year old girl end up pregnant

PrincessToadstool Thu 09-Jul-09 12:55:34

What a fucking IDIOT

whomovedmychocolate Thu 09-Jul-09 12:57:57

Soupy is right of course, it is a tragedy that such a young girl is in this position. But her parents must have some brass neck to come out with this proposal as an explanation.

LynetteScavo Thu 09-Jul-09 12:58:14

She is suing? Who on earth is representing her?

misdee Thu 09-Jul-09 12:58:16

i know SD, that thought crossed my mind, surely the mother should be looking at ity from that angle rather than suing a hotel.

SoupDragon Thu 09-Jul-09 12:58:52

I guess they'd rather believe that than the alternative.

I was prepared to laugh until I realised the "teen" was only 13.

whomovedmychocolate Thu 09-Jul-09 13:00:00

Well it makes a change from mumsnetters discussing having a baby in water to making one. But it's still bollocks.

i only speed read it and didnt see her age blush

SoupDragon Thu 09-Jul-09 13:03:29

Some of the comments on the article page are repellent. Clearly they haven't realised how young the girl is. The Sun has been misleading with the use of the word "teen" in the headline, clearly aiming for laughs. Had it read "thirteen year old girl pregnant after ‘swimming in pool’" the feel would have been different

Lulumama Thu 09-Jul-09 13:08:42

agree soupy and WMMC.

either her parents really believe that that is how you get pregnant. although one would assume that they conceived her the more traditional way

or teh shame of underage/out of wedlock sex is so totally abhorrent to them , that they would rather believe she got pregnant via a swimming pool

awful stuff., poor gilr

GIvePeasAChance Thu 09-Jul-09 13:15:08

Reminds me of a famous story in the know, the one where Mary got pregnant by 'immaculate' conception - course you did love.

Anyone who has ever seen the Maury show knows how convincing women can be about the alleged father of their child.

But what will she put on the birth cert?

Father: swimming pool in Egypt.

Trikken Thu 09-Jul-09 13:16:54

I havent read it yet, so dont have the facts but wouldnt the chlorine in swimming pools kill the sperm?

GIvePeasAChance Thu 09-Jul-09 13:17:03

Begs another men actually wank in swimming pools? This story seems accepting of the fact that there is just sperm hanging around swimming pools as a matter of course.

Trikken Thu 09-Jul-09 13:20:10

id have thought that would have been a chucking out offense. lol

TigerFeet Thu 09-Jul-09 13:24:06

I feel really bad for laughing now

Poor kid.

hmm at the mother though... surely she doesn't actually beleive that she fell pregnant by going for a swim????

lisad123 Thu 09-Jul-09 13:26:02

now that mother is def PFB!!

lisad123 Thu 09-Jul-09 13:27:56

poor kid though

KingCanuteIAm Thu 09-Jul-09 13:29:53

I think the joking is at the mother for being so silly not the child. The mother is being an idiot and making a laughing stock of herself. The child is in an awful situation and needs proper help to get through this not a parent who wants to concentrate on a law suit rather than her child.
