They are gorgeous, but they all have a slight resemblence to monkeys grin as did my two los too wink

SoupDragon Tue 07-Jul-09 09:22:50

Aw... I could feel the memory of the touch of newborn Babydragon's bare skin in my arms watching that.

Fresh newborns are very monkey like aren't they?

ScummyMummy Tue 07-Jul-09 09:25:49

Oh good grief. Only a mother could love them, frankly. I can't believe I'm going to have one of those again soon. Where do I purchase some Rose-coloured spectacles? Why didn't I get a kitten instead?

ImOverHere Tue 07-Jul-09 09:26:02

Aren't they sweet. I know what you mean Soupdragon, I could almost smell that lovely sweet newborn smell.

Yup, there is a definite monkey thing going on.

notyummy Tue 07-Jul-09 09:34:05

scummy - hee, hee grin

It's true - hormones make us think they are beautiful and take pictures of then when they are like this....when in all honestly they are pretty scary.

My mum and dad told me that camera film was expensive when I was born - and I 'wasn't worth taking a picture of (!)' for the first few weeks. shock I was a much loved only child.....but even they could see that forceps marks, bright red frizzy hair and a nasty rash was not worth capturing on film!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa Tue 07-Jul-09 09:34:25

Oh God they're ugly grin. And yet so very, very lovely.

My DD3 is 4 weeks old, it's hard to remember/believe that she looked like a wizened old man monkey/boxer who's done 15 rounds in a bare-knuckle fight too.....

Alibabaandthe40nappies Tue 07-Jul-09 09:39:06

God that has made me broody!

Soupy - I can remember the feel of DS and his smell rather than quite what he looked like at that stage, although I have got photos.

Stretch Tue 07-Jul-09 09:41:54

That is so sweet! I love the one with his tongue out!!! grin

They do go through a bit of a rough time being born though!

GooseyLoosey Tue 07-Jul-09 09:42:35

Gosh, I just looked at them and thought ugly. No part of me thought "aren't they lovely".

morningpaper Tue 07-Jul-09 09:44:33

I know just what you mean Soupy

Their yummy tiny chests and floppy angry arms and little sucky gums

littleducks Tue 07-Jul-09 09:54:06

what is wrong with you lot?

i didnt think any were ugly, some better poses than others but they werent UGLY

oh shit, ds is 15 months, same age dd was when i fell pg with ds......maybe its me

PrincessToadstool Tue 07-Jul-09 10:03:06

Ahhh. That made me smile, ugly or otherwise. I love the ones where you can see the wrinkled hands, DS was 2 weeks over and so shrivelly, I hadn't expected that. I thought he looked a bit like a turtle - small chin, big eyes, thin mouth.

ScummyMummy Tue 07-Jul-09 10:08:00

Little ducks! Come On, girl. There are only about 3 which are not utterly bizarre looking. Just look at that first one- it's a creased up startled alien with overbite and forehead hair. And it's not alone! The rest of 'em look just as horrific! I feel a lot better about my last scan now. It clearly showed that my baby has a duckface and I was slightly perturbed but I am now reminded that most newborns are super strange to look at.

I am soo broody now.

Yes, they look all scrunched up and simian like, but, as Soupdragon says, it brings it all back. When they are all velvety and downy and hot against your breast.

And breathe, I am NOT having any more babies.

Hulababy Tue 07-Jul-09 10:15:05

The smell of a newborn's head - mmmmm

They are so sweet, all scrunched up looking like little old men! I don't need extra hormones to make me broody, lol.

thegingerwhinger Tue 07-Jul-09 10:19:26

Watching that made me feel sad that I'll probably never cradle a newborn again sad

I wouldn't call them ugly. Puffy, yes. Wrinkly, yes. A bit strange looking, indeed. But ugly, most definitely not! I think they're all a bit grumpy about being pushed out of the cosy little place they called home for 9 months!

ByThePowerOfGreyskull Tue 07-Jul-09 10:19:50

They are brilliant photo's
I have just born pics of my boys on my profile and I remind myself often of how perfect they were, untarnished by life.

VinegarTits Tue 07-Jul-09 10:23:12

ewww put me off my breakfast

RunningFaery Tue 07-Jul-09 10:25:04

One looks like Al Murray

sassy Tue 07-Jul-09 10:28:34

Aah. They all look so tired. NOt surprising really.

Newborns are so special. They cast such a spell.

sockmonkey Tue 07-Jul-09 10:32:22

Wow. Fresh babies, you forget how wrinkly they are newborn.
DS2 had a ridge across the top of his head like a cornish pastie. Poor little fella.

MoChan Tue 07-Jul-09 10:41:29

Weird. That made me weep just a little, and I'm not normally like that about little ones. I thought they were lovely, not ugly, just because they are so very human, and yet so very alien. As well as being hairy monkeys.

NormaSknockers Tue 07-Jul-09 10:45:49

Some are really cute....others...well they'll grow into their looks wink DS was affectionately called 'Little Monkey Man' for the first month or so as he had a furry face grin

Good photos though, made me sad that I'll never cuddle a seconds old baby again DS is 1 year next month <<sob>>
