Everytime I read his latest idea I wonder if he has some sort of bet or dare going on to see how unpleasant he can make travelling with Ryanair before passengers prefer to stay home rather than travel with them.

Well the buses and railways get away with charging passengers FULL fare to have to stand up and get thrown around in the aisles, so I guess that's where he's got his inspiration from

well in my mind i'm picturing an over the shoulders kind of strap/barrier like you'd get in a stand up rollercoaster/free-fall style ride except more compact perhaps.
as far as i was aware the seat belts only stop you from getting thrown around in turbulence/take off/landing in case the altitude of the plane drops suddenly so surely being strapped in securely but standing up would offfer similar protection. i doubt it's going to happen any time soon but surely it will be an inevitability if the technology were available?
i don't know if it is feasible or not, i'm just wondering why people are so quick to dismiss it as unfeasible, and i'm not sure if i'm missing something so would love an explanation as i'm genuinely interested to know why people don't think it would work.
BTW i seriously doubt ryanair are about to implement this tomorrow, but i can see it in a decade or so.i think like everything else people would just need to get used to the idea.

I can see it going ahead too actually. Lets be honest, a ryanair flight pretty much is just like catching a bus. They look like buses inside. I've been on ryanair flights that were shorter than the bus takes to get into town here! So it's not like anyone will really be stood up for hours is it.
I don't think I'd have a problem with it tbh.

No nothing about this but we have just got back from a hol where we flew with Ryanair and I was really impressed with them: cheap as chips flights that left on time - and arrived early both times, and great onboard service.
Would choose them again without a shadow of a doubt.

Charging for the bog still makes me snigger - someone emailed in to Eddie Mayer on Radio 4 and said if charging £1 would guarantee the seat would be dry, then they'd happily pay it
