the garda is awaiting sentencing having plead guilty to making false statements to the gardai. she claimed she was attacked by a taxi driver to pay him back for giving him a "dirty look" and ripped up her own dress to substantiate her claims.
what do others think is a reasonable punishment? i think dismissal should be a given, but i'm not so sure about a jail sentence.my instincts would say she should serve time. i mean she abused her power and if she kept persued her lie then she could have ruined the taxi drivers life on the basis of a perceived slight. but she's plead guilty and i dread to think what would happen to a garda in jail.
