monkeytrousers Tue 16-Jun-09 20:20:34

AitchTwoOh Tue 16-Jun-09 20:21:36

it's thrilling, isnt' it? and terrifying.

ThingOne Tue 16-Jun-09 20:26:10

It really brings 1979 back so vividly for me. It's an amazing country. I wish I understood it more.

Piffle Tue 16-Jun-09 20:28:03

I know, I wish I knew more about why the iranians don't want Ahmedinijad. And I thought his opposition was a dead shady fecker and all.
Power to the people though!

I'm off to read some background to this as I hate not knowing
I used to enjoy watch Mr Ah... wind up the Yanks though

My friend says she's terrified for her younger cousins back home in Tehran and is pleading with them NOT to go out and join the protests. But thinks they are going anyway.

She's certain the election was stolen, btw, and supports the protesters all the way.

He is a maniac Piffle. His determination to wife Israel off the map (he is planning a 'new' Holocaust facilitaed by nuclear munitions) is brining the world to defcon 2. It's not just reasonable Iranians. He has all the states surrounding Israel on tenterhooks after he announced that it would be worth a few million Arabs dead if ti got rid of Israel.

monkeytrousers Tue 16-Jun-09 22:01:06

or wipe israel off the map I should say blush

Bubble99 Tue 16-Jun-09 22:02:41

I have an Iranian colleague who dissolved into tears today when I asked her if her family (in Tehran) were OK.

'He's a madman' was her response.

Bubble99 Tue 16-Jun-09 22:04:44

Quite striking to see the difference in age of both groups of protesters.

Heathcliffscathy Tue 16-Jun-09 22:06:47

was on newsnight that young iranians were asking that hackers hack into govt systems to stop them blocking communications out of iran.

lots of this is being fought online.

Bubble99 Tue 16-Jun-09 22:08:18

Surely the regime has to die out with the next generation, anyway?

Bubble99 Tue 16-Jun-09 22:09:12

And it's good to see you, soph smile

Heathcliffscathy Tue 16-Jun-09 22:09:43

hi bubble

Bubble99 Tue 16-Jun-09 22:09:58

And me ol' mucker, MT grin

Bubble99 Tue 16-Jun-09 22:15:04

I watched Ahmadinejad during a UN (?) thing recently spouting his line in Holocaust denial.

With that horrible grin thing.

monkeytrousers Tue 16-Jun-09 22:27:37

Bub!! grin

The more I read on the UN the more I can only see it as a corrupt institution. I think I might write to my MP demanding the UK leave. What's the odds? grin

Bubble99 Tue 16-Jun-09 22:29:45

Small to middling, MT....

I was pleased to see how many people walked out, though.
