No- apparently it doesn't show up- Helen at towers very kindly and swiftly told me.
My dcs had some strange things happen recently -I live I don't know if it's anything to do with gnomes knowing where I live, although they've published this on the internet.

I was thinking about whether I believe in compulsory voting as in Australia, and still haven't decided if i agree with that.
Do you?
There could be a box saying "none of the above" to register protest.
But I don't think I agree with it being compulsory.

Your name appears (and your photo if you sent one) because you are looking at it from the computer you entered your details with.

If you looked from someone else's computer you wouldn't see that.

I think it's to do with the cookies that are put on your computer when you do it. So whenever you visit it you see your details.

They should sort it out though - I know it's put a couple of people off doing it.

Signed, posted a link in another thread about the BNP on here, and on my Facebook. Got DH to post a link on his Facebook too, hopefully will get a few more signatures that way. It really scares me that there are nearly a million people in this country who voted BNP.

Oh that's great- you can add up to 10 names and pass them on.
Anathema- me too- it's horrifying.
It's as if all those people were a bit ashamed and weren't public about it now feel it's legitimate.
The centre right in Europe too.

I detest everything that the bnp stand for. But the thought of putting a photo of myself up there makes me fearful, because we just don't know who looks at these petitions, who has access to them (it's public after all) and what they're capable of.

I am a bit confused...

Most individuals in the UK have the right to vote.

Some did.

The BNP got enough votes to secure 2 seats.

THAT IS DEMOCRACY

I hate the idea of the BNP representing the UK, but our country stands and falls on democracy, and the country has voted.

In some ways, this very petition seems to contradict the 'freedoms' we as a country have fought for.

They got in because of voter apathy lou031205, not because of a huge surge of interest.
Your post might make more sense if your second from last sentence read
" The country has not voted"
It's horrifying that they managed to skim through.
This petition is also democracy- by saying they don't represent the vast majority.

Apathy in times like this can allow terrible things to
happen.
Not taking action or speaking out against what is clearly wrong isn't right imo.
For people like this to have been given a legitimate voice because people didn't vote as a protest about the government, expenses etc is a scandal.

They do represent Britain, clearly. They got 2 seats out of 72. That is less than 3% of the total. Which actually underrepresents their level of support.

THey aren't representing me, but they certainly represent probably about 5% of the country.
