Anyone else bored sick with wall to wall economy crisis coverage?

Yes.
They should just have a voice over "We're doooomed, we're doooooomed!" over and over again.
Of course it's very important but there is so much pointless speculation and chattering.

God yes........me too. I know it's very serious and but can't help thinking that all the feverish speculation about what's going to happen next ramps up the panic factor and is helping the situation to snowball towards the recession that the media has been forecasting for what seems like forever.

yes, bored depressed and had enough ! things ar shite, we know this. any possible glimmer of hope or anything less bad gets buried.

we just have to knuckle down and ride it out as best we can

watching news24 all day on a loop won;t change that

i don't listen to it because the pessimist in me thinks all this bailout and crap isn't going to head off the inevitable and we'll all get stuck footing the bill.

Yes, have stopped watching the news or reading papers. If the economy is up shit creek there is really nothing I can personally do about it, so no point in worrying about it really.

we don't have savings, pension or even a mortgage.

we don't have big jobs, either. we just basically do what comes our way same as always and can turn our hand to just about anything to turn a few coppers.

we live like old-time gypsies.

so in the grand scheme of things, it's all just somethign on the news.

For the past few weeks I have watched/read a great deal of economic news in hopes I could educate myself and decide how best to personally navigate this economic storm.

After almost a month of daily catastrophic news, I am exhausted and very down - as are many around me. A friend is coming over this afternoon because she can't bear to be on her own - she broke down completely in the bank yesterday after a meeting with her accountant. Another friend has been to the doctor with chest pains. Another friend is drinking far too much. I am having difficulty sleeping as my mind races, and I feel panicky.

I am very close to boycotting all media because it is too upsetting. Perhaps it is better to opt out and come up for air/survey the wreckage when all this is over.

We don't even have £35,000 in savings!Pensions not needed for a few more years.
I've always watched news, but this is the first time ever that i've felt really worried.
Even the Iraq wars and others were not that bad.
It's just this has the potential to touch EVERYONE!

The meeja just bludgeon any subject to oblivion and until it implodes and we can't care anymore. There's not a thing we can do about it.

Ok, ok we're all doomed. We get the message. It was credit crunch city anyway chez Tsar and has been for years, so not much change round here.

We were all doomed with bird flu, measles, teacher's strikes and alcohol before all this blew up.

YESSSSSSSS! Totally bored with it. Do not see TV (except Merlin ), so have only heard of Robert Peston by reputation. But when I was asked by the petrol station cashier this morning ( who was looking at teh newspapers while serving) if I was affected by the Credit Crunch - even tho' i know and like him and we chat regularly about inconsequential things - I felt like grabbing him by the neck, strangling him and say - ffs its a sunny Saturday, I am buying your petrol, lets - not- talk - about- it....

Apparently RP has been bollocked about his coverage - he has been getting inside info that he was not meant to broadcast!!

DH went to lunch on Friday with a broketr who said you could judge the problems with the economy by how many raincoats Aquascutem had sold that week - DH laughed in his face and told him to get a grip - the man on the street has no fecking idea what Aquascutem is let alone enough money to purchase raincoats from them! I presume sales are down at the Aquascutem shop and so we should all sell all our belongings and move to Iceland!

And Australian Banks are the ones in which to invest your money apparently they are so heavily regualted that they don't have exposure to the sub prime toxic wasteland!

The media themselves are causing a large part of the problem - they're loving it and don't want to hear any good news. I was listening to Money Box on R4 yesterday afternoon (sad sack emoticon) and Paul Lewis was talking to a pension expert who said that most people within a few years of retirement are ok because their funds get moved to 'safe' areas, cash or bond investments. Paul Lewis wasn't having any of this 'good' news and just kept hacking away about the unfortunates who are approaching retirement with their pensions reduced by huge percentages. The pension expert had to reiterate twice that 90% of soon to be pensioners will be OK, because Paul Lewis wanted them all to be on the breadline so the story would be more frightening and catastrophic. Am fed up of the media being irresponsible in their reporting. As usual.
