Don't get me wrong, it is clearly unacceptable to bite a child.
However I do wonder if putting a single mother in jail for losing her rag and biting her five year old was in the family's best interest.
I suspect that putting a five year old boy and a baby into foster care was horrendous for the children. The innocent children have been punished for the crime of their mother. Many adults are emotionally very damaged by being put in care.
If I had been the judge, I would have given the mother a suspended jail sentence, community service as well as forcing her to attend parenting classes.
Am I excessively soft or was the judge right to make an example out of this woman.
