I just heard on newsround, it is fucked. Great, we might not die yet then! grin

Spidermama Sat 20-Sep-08 14:59:28

Ahhh so it was bad science after all.

BoysArrrrLikeDogs Sat 20-Sep-08 15:01:02

Dang

I am kinda disappointed, as I have been on a mega shop and spent the children's inheritance

Maybe they could turn it into a theme park ride now. hmm

No surprise to me at all

Saturn74 Sat 20-Sep-08 21:01:10

Fabio done premonition it.
Clever cat.

LOL at hearing it on Newsround (mind you, I just read it on Mumsnet...)

Is this true?

RambleOn Sat 20-Sep-08 21:14:27

Hope the cleaner doesn't switch it on by mistake while plugging in the hoover - the black hole might escape if it's broken.

But it's ok, cos it's only a little black hole.

pointydog Sat 20-Sep-08 21:17:54

Ah their plan to take over the world is foiled again!

FlightAttendent Sun 21-Sep-08 05:34:02

I dunno about accuracy of reporting tbh. but it was great - I overheard the presenter saying, at the end of the announcement, 'So, that's not very good, is it!'

Ha ha!!!! Brilliant.

policywonk Sun 21-Sep-08 09:24:14

You lot need this book: quantum theory cannot hurt you [grinj]

pointydog Sun 21-Sep-08 10:07:06

oo I like the look of that book.

As we're all chatting about science quite the thing, can I ask a question? Is play dough a solid?

roisin Sun 21-Sep-08 10:28:26

ds1 got that book for his birthday and loves it. I can't understand beyond the first couple of pages blush

pointydog Sun 21-Sep-08 10:33:01

I couldn't understand the blurb, roisin, but it sounded so interesting I thought if I concentrated Very Hard it would sink in.

policywonk Sun 21-Sep-08 12:44:45

You're only asking me that because of the Tartare Sauche Incident, pointy angry

It's probably a solid. I mean, it's not a liquid or a gas, is it? How many other categories are there? Solid, liquid, gas, squishy stuff.

pointydog Sun 21-Sep-08 12:50:37

har! just found this

pointydog Sun 21-Sep-08 12:52:05

no, I know nothing of the tartare sauce incident.

A child asked me and I said confidently solid, then remembered that glass is a liquid. And thought, actually that child asked a very good question.

policywonk Sun 21-Sep-08 12:58:41

Glass is a liquid? Really?

UpSinceCrapOClock Sun 21-Sep-08 13:03:50

ooh yes, glass is a liquid - s'why antique window panes are slightly thicker at the bottom than the top <<smug know-it-all of useless information>>

policywonk Sun 21-Sep-08 13:06:39

this page agrees with you both and then it changes its mind

CoteDAzur Sun 21-Sep-08 13:23:10

Playdoh is a malleable solid.

Glass is a brittle solid (at room temperature).

FlightAttendent Sun 21-Sep-08 13:27:25

<comes back to check on thread>

<sinks completely out of depth, and drowns>

UpSinceCrapOClock Sun 21-Sep-08 13:30:41

blush ah, ok, not so much a smug know-it-all of useless information then

<<wanders off to look for a thread less out of depth, such as how to make toast or something>>

policywonk Sun 21-Sep-08 13:32:33

Cote has special words. She wins.

Carp - your understanding was much further advanced than mine.

policywonk Sun 21-Sep-08 13:35:02

carp? Jesus, what is with my spelling today. This does not bode well for the book I'm copy-editing.
