terrible tragedy today in my next village that resulted in a powercut

(21 Posts)

A teenager apparently climbed a pylon.
We had a powercut, for sometime today and I wondered why.

Oh no, how awful

wotulookinat Mon 15-Sep-08 19:01:14

how awful for his family. Why on earth was he climbing it?

Notalone Mon 15-Sep-08 19:16:09

No - not as far as I know. Sure it won't be too long though. His friends must be traumatised

Kimi Mon 15-Sep-08 19:28:31

sad poor child and poor poor family...
what on earth were he and his friends doing, such a waste of life.

wotulookinat Mon 15-Sep-08 20:01:11

the waste of a young life is what is so heart breaking, isn't it?

Hulababy Mon 15-Sep-08 20:15:10

How sad His poor family.

TwoIfBySea Mon 15-Sep-08 23:23:31

Remember the scary ads there used to be, one had the consequences of a boy going into a power station to retrieve a frisbee?

About time they started showing them again I think. Perhaps they terrified the life out of us but they sure as hell got the point across.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt Mon 15-Sep-08 23:24:57

I saw this and it made my blood run cold. I could imagine ds1 doing this if he got out alone. He climbs everything. Poor family.

wotulookinat Tue 16-Sep-08 07:38:21

I think you're right, Twoifbysea, they should bring those ads back.

mamadiva Tue 16-Sep-08 07:56:04

Poor boy and his family and friends, my heat goes out to them today

But could I just say common sense tells you not to climb these things surely. I don't remember any ads before but we just knew not to do it. Didn't the fire brigade used to come in and talka bout things like this? Perhaps it's time they do we don't want another faily to suffer through something that could be so easily avoided

mummyhill Tue 16-Sep-08 08:01:08

How terrible.

I remember the adds, maybe they should start running them again.

ClareVoiant Tue 16-Sep-08 08:39:14

twoifbysea. I'm still terrified of pylons and train tracks after seeing those ads when i was small. I'm 38 now.

taipo Tue 16-Sep-08 08:56:30

Tragic sad

Both my dc try to climb everything too so this terrifies me.

I remember them ads, would be a gooD idea to bring them back.

Guadalupe Tue 16-Sep-08 09:39:07

How ghastly. His poor family.

I still think about those ads whenever I walk near a pylon, it really stuck in my mind.

Why did they stop showing them?
