Actually, maybe she could join a terroriust group? With that level of thinking, I'm sure she'd manage to blow herself up fairly sharpish. No loss.

I did think to myself "If the film had been about Al Quaeda would she have wanted to join them?"

She's really rather thick isn't she?

What an utterly idiotic thing to say

Whatever happens; don't let her speak after seeing Boy in the Striped Pyjamas ffs.

remember many americans contributed to coffers of ira its not such a shocking comment
it was a war
people take sides, the very lifeblood of war

freedom fighter / terrorist, just depends what side you are on

If it's got her in it I won't be seeing it anyway - how many years was she in Charmed and I don't think I saw her act once

I'm appalled at her comments, someone needs to give her a good talking to, I hope her agent realises what she's done - fast!

She probably thinks she's an expert because she's been in a film about it and thinks it was as simple as the film shows (cause they can't have shown it in it's full gory glory can they?) I like the comments from the guy who's story it is.

I remember living in Canada McD was boycotted by a lot of people because the American side gave financial backing to the IRA. I did find it kind of funny (in an ironic way) that they got a doorstep bomb.

i thought plenty of americans were pro ira anyway>?

Report

you were either for the ira or for the British remember?
She has read a bit and heard a bit and what she Probably means is that she supports what the IRA were fighting for. But abhors their methods.
While being similarly appalled at the British treatment of Nationalists.
But she ain't as eloquent prob spent too much time in the US surrounded by luvvies.

there definitely have been other hollywood actors For the IRA

"Ms McGowan said: "Violence is not to be played out daily and provide an answer to problems, but I understand it."'

Does this imply that she thinks occasional violence is OK (as opposed to everyday violence)

Report
Piffle · 11/09/2008 21:59

simply that she sees why they choose it
As many have...
Ditto Palestine
Understanding why is not colluding in the violence per se

Yeah, I expect those were her exact thought processes.

Yes SBF - I recall Brad Pitt (moron) making a similar moronic comment some years back.

And I'd imagine there's plenty of others too.
