The parents of the children she murdered probably care

Oh fantastic.

I hope the opening ceremony will include a dance piece depicting the The Ripper and perhaps a rap to Harold Shipman.

Perhaps Gary Glitter could sing?

Or better, we could toss him into the Olympic flame?

Oh dear the Tristrams really don't think sometimes...

I think he'll burn lovely.

That's not the name of his hit.

'Do you wanna be in my gang?'

I believe the recommended answer is 'no.'

Yes not properly thought through.

BUT made much worse by it becoming a media furore. It was 1 - 2 seconds in a 5 minute film shown at a private party. Noticed by a journalist and prompting a huge over-reaction by everyone else.

Someone fucked up. They should have said sorry. End of story.

No, I think this was a bad decision. It is art - for all that pertains to seeing in in context in a gallery - but in a promotional video out of context..no

Yes. Not that that was okay. In an art gallery, this kind of work is supposed to provoke.

It really isn't the kind of stuff you want in a UK promotional video though. It's part of out communal shame.

Postmodernism does not make the sufferings of those children into mere 'narratives'. A bit if respect is called for.

Of all the art work that could have been used in the 3 minute montage though. it's appalling actually.

what I did not realise, which made me feel sick to my stomach though I expect that was the desired effect, was that her image was made up using childrens hand prints?

That is surely not 'art', provoking thought, but a 'postmodernist artist' trying to raise his profile through any means, however sickening it is, and however disrespectful to the dead children and their families who still do not rest in peace as no-one knows where they are buried.

Ok so a bit of a rant about the piece in general but if it provokes such a reaction to me, what will it do to a non UK resident to make them think positively about the Olympic games being held here.

i have to say thats quite disturbing, surely there are more positive images of british icons they can show

I don't understand what kind of sick motherfucker would make something like that and then call it art. Oh yeah real art except everyone one thinks is a piece of shit because it's so sick. Maybe the artist is also some kind of child murderer and gets there kicks out of this kind of thing.

the picture used has been around for quite some time and there have been lots of dabates about the rights and wrongs of it. what i find really surprising with this video is that nobody previewed it before the public showing and though, hang on , maybe thats not the best image to use?

What I do not understand is why it would be used in a Visit London video.
