here

Can't Thai authorities cuff this scumbag and force him on a plane back to the UK?

I thought when you were deported from somewhere that means authorties put you back on a plane for your home country and you didn't have a choice about going there?

Its unbelievable isn't it.
I'm finding it so hard to watch on the news, he makes my flesh crawl.

Perhaps it just means they don't have to let you into their country, not that you have to go home. Course, he has enough money to continent-hop, till he finds somewhere that will let him in, if that is the case.

I thought that too. Seems like he knows waht sort of reception he would get in this country. 19 countries have refused to let him stay

expatinscotland · 21/08/2008 09:51

ah, i see.

why is he so reluctant to return to the UK?

he's already served time here for another conviction.

If he returns to the UK he will be met at the airport and made to sign the sex offenders register. He will then need to notify authorities where he intends to live and if he wants to elave the UK for any reason and where he wants to travel to

In cases like these the death penalty should be used

Report
ginnny · 21/08/2008 09:54

I agree Ruby, I keep thinking about the poor girls he's abused.
He doesn't want to come here because he would have to sign the sex offenders register and we would restrict his movements.
Also, the media will slaughter him.
Serves him right I say.

ah, i see, salty!

too bad paedos get out of jail so quickly.

it would have been easier to keep tabs on him if he were just locked up for life.

Well said Hughjarssss (love your name )

I can kind of understand why he might be worried about coming back to this country! Fair enough he's a horrible man but most people on the sex-offenders register do have some anonymity. The press are going to hound him constantly.

I am really sick of hearing about him on the media. I really don't think they should be feeding his attention seeking behaviour.
Though I suppose they may be helping to ensure that he can't sneak under the radar into another country.

CatIsSleepy · 21/08/2008 10:04

oh am confused-thought he was coming back here

had actually stopped paying any attention to the stories as the less I hear about him the better really!

forward this to about 9 minutes. Shocking reporting from teh BBC here

Reporter standing by children's playground doing report about Gary glitter.

Yes he's a dispicable man but I hate reporting like this. It's so tabloid and the BBC should know better!

Report
SlartyBartFast · 21/08/2008 10:13

he is on minimum register, or something, he just has to tell them where he lives and he can keep his passport
zilch else as far as i can understand

Report
bundle · 21/08/2008 10:18

but wasn't jacqui smith saying on the news she didn't want him travelling anywhere?

Report
Imnotok · 21/08/2008 10:19

I thought that too Beanieb.

ConstanceWearing · 21/08/2008 10:20

It's really quite insidious, beanieb. If you hadn't pointed it out, I wonder how much my brain would have registered the location of the report, but maximised the feeling of abhorrence for GG. Very clever stuff, even if we cannot approve of it.

They are saying the airlines are not willing to fly him anywhere from Thailand, because he is virtually guaranteed not to be allowed entry into most countries, so the airlines will have to fly him back free of charge to Thailand again. They don't want to do this, so no outbound flights for him. Of course, this might just be an excuse to force him back to the UK. But who's going to waste any sympathy on him, even if it that is the case?

Report
TheFifthApe · 21/08/2008 10:21

if he comes here, he cannot leave the country again

so he is trying to avoid coming here at all costs

can't see any countries forming a queue to welcome him myself

Report
fedupandisolated · 21/08/2008 10:25

Oh surprise surprise - they don't want him in Hong Kong either - I actually ed at this. The bastard will have no option but to return to the UK at some point. Then he will be monitored at least.

i thought the authorities here had now refused him access back to the UK.

personally a dingy in the middle of the sea would be too good for that 'thing'

Report
CountTo10 · 21/08/2008 10:32

As constance said the airlines are under no obligation to fly him and can refuse to even fly him to the UK - which I don't blame them if they've got half the worlds paps on the plane with him annoying everyone!! I say lock him up in some awful detention centre somewhere and throw away the key!
