I've just watched the BBC clip of the race and then the interview and welled up a bit - she seems so nice. It's just brilliant.

She's a star, isn't she? And so lovely! So cool that she broke a record set when she was about 6 months old.

was it her own world record ? She broke during heats? Or was that an Olympic record she set in heats?
Bloody amazing lass so smiley and humble

She set an OR in the heats. The WR she set in the final was the longest standing record in female swimming (stood since 1989).

She is amazing and so down-to-earth and modest. I loved the way that she was as excited at Jo Jackson getting the bronze as she was to have won the gold.

She is lovely isn't she. And only 19!

Her parents must be bursting with pride <sniffs emotionally>

And giggling on the podium! Fantastic result and seems a lovely girl.

Swimming is great for people who aren't necessarily good at other sports! Ian Thorpe apparently was pretty poor at all other sports. I love it because it requires little in the way of hand-eye co-ordination... Hope dd2 sticks with it, Christie - it's a fantastic sport and I'd love to have a body like a swimmer.
