Oh, I heard about this on the Radio 2 news, and some of the presenters talking about it. Can't believe sme have said it is Ikea's fault though becuase their offers were too good! From other witnesses from inside it would seem that some people half way down the queue just started pushing and shoving to force themselves inside. Madness!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! That's fantastic. I mean obviously I'm sorry for anyone that was hurt, don't get me wrong, but who on earth wants an Ikea sofa that badly?! (PS I'm intruiged by the story 'Testicle-ripping woman imprisoned' listed at the bottom of the link....!!)

"Sofas at the store were on sale for as little as £45" THis is one of the offers that some people have said caused the riot - but there were apparantly 100s of these sofas on sale, not just one or two!

And another ont hat report says there was no control - but there wee 45 security guards according to the BBC.

LOL. NO! For me to queue up at midnight the offer would have to have been nearer a sofa for £1!!! And it was cold last night. Ikea staff had been handing out drinks and hotdogs to people who had started queuing hours before midnight.

Oh wait, just had thought though - anyone on MN queue last night????

babies out in that cold that late Now, I defeinitely don't need a sofa that much.

Mind you, I do remember DD bing awake at that time when tiny - so maybe not such a strange time to go shopping - but not Ikea opening surely!!!

misdee - you might still get one. They closed about about 20 minutes, so don't think they'll have gone!

hula, no way of getting it home, i'm not strong. if mine gets any worse i'll just get one of their basic sofas for about £150 anyway.

Did nearly take DD to Asda 24 hour shop once - as I was getting so desperate! But, I don't think I'd have managed Ikea - on a normal day, let alone opeing night.

Exactly misdee. Maybe they were thinking they could use the prams to push their goodies home in/on.

gwenick, we know you hate ikea, but you have to say that as your dh isd in the furniture business

i paid near on £1000 for this sofa i have now 3years ago from courts and its sh*te. i'd rather spend £150 on a cheap one and chucking it out every year or so.

but Misdee - we bought our current furniture from Argos - and both fell completely in love with a table we saw last Saturday in a shop called Lucas in Aylsebury...........plus IKEA doesn't ONLY sell furniture (And I buy accesories in Matalan and Wilkinson ).

I was kind of hoping I might find a bed suitable for DS1 in IKEA (we're NOT giving him an expensive bed - and he won't be selling them anyhow -) but didn't like any of them

We also both LOVE Habitat

i love habitat, but its out of my price range, well the stuff i want is anyway lol.

i am currently searching for all pretty girly things for my dd's bedroom, which i am currently in the planning stages of, and have found lots of little girly touches at ikea for them. i love the kids stuff there, as some of it is so 'sensory' and how i think kids rooms should be.

no point buying kids expensive beds, they only jump on them anyway!
