the amount of nutters in this world is horrifying

Appartantly, the lad had headphones on and had not even spoken to the madman, completely unprovoked attack.

So scary

I read that the poor victim was sleeping at the time.

I hope he died quickly and didn't suffer too much.

It's one of the most horrific things I've ever heard about,it never fails to amaze me how evil people can be.

I suspect he had a psychotic break or was on drugs, pcp perhaps though the witnesses said he didn't seem to be in a rage.

When the three of them entered the bus to see if they could help the victim, he turned on them and they just managed to get the doors shut, but he got his arm through and was slashing at them.

I'm not sure that even Steven King could have came up with such a horrific tale.

It's something out of a horror film isn't it. I've done many long coach journeys, and sometimes you do get freaks on the bus with you.

oh my god I'm not gonna sleep ever again! Lost for words apart from faaarrrkkk!

the 'blood curdling screams' suggest he did suffer though ..

Yes I've no doubt he did suffer, I just pray it was kept to a minimum, that he was dead before the killer began to remove his head.

I'm anti DP, not that they have the DP in Canada, but I can't help wishing that the police had shot this guy.

I don't think I'd ever be able to get those images out of my mind if I'd been on that bus.

The poor victim. Hope he wasn't aware for too long.

I'm going to a remote part of Scotland this month to say in a flimsy cottage. This story isn't making me look forward to it. What's the chances of his long lost brother being in the Highlands this August? I am totally drop jawed and wide eyed about this story. The poor boy

God that's shocking poor guy, as you said I hope he died relatively quickly, doesn't bear thinking about if he didn't

Thank god the bus driver was so brave though otherwise who knows how many more coul've been killed/injured by that maniac.

The scream could have come from the other passengers. What an awful thing to witness.

this bbc link says that a man has been charged with second degree murder. What's their definition of 1st degree murder if this is just 2nd?

Report
SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 01/08/2008 17:21

first degree murder is planned and pre empted! this must have been a spur of the moment thing as opposed to the killer got on the bus planning to kill!

very sad and scary

How awful

Report
belgo · 01/08/2008 17:22

but if he got on the bus with a knife big enough to do that sort of damage, then I would have thought that was evidence that it was in some way planned.

Agree with Belgo - YOu go out of the house with a big frickin' knife, you are intending to hurt someone.

In 36 eyars, I've never left the house with big knife. Ever.

I very much doubt 'dying quickly' helps the mother and family of this man. How can anyone be capable of such evil?
