Come on this is hilarious, right?

Anyone else reading the details of the court case and struggling not to laugh out loud?

I'm actually quite admiring his honesty tbh. It's only kinky the first time and all that.

What exactly is he being charged with ?

Agree, absolutely hilarious, esp the denying of it being anything to do with the Nazis! How the court is keeping a straight face, I've no idea. MM must be SO thick skinned to go through all this.

I haven't been reading the court case details to be honest as I think its all a bit voyeristic (sp). I feel sorry for him that he is having to stand up and give out intimate details of his sex life. As far as I understand he's done nothing illegal and all adults were consenting.

Has he actually been charged with something?

He's suing the News of the World for invading his privacy, so no we're not paying for it as costs will be paid for by the losing side afaiu. You get the impression from reading the reports that he's absolutely unashamed and having a whale of a time.

The basic tenet of his argument is that there is nothing wrong with what he was getting up to, but it should have been able to be kept private. He is also furious about the allegations that the S&M session (which he admits to very happily) had a Nazi theme.

Honestly its a brilliant read.

I think he is suing (sp?) the News of the World for invasion of privacy, so that it why it all has to be discussed in great detail. Agree it's none of anyone's business really, but presume it's all to do with him being head of Formula 1 or whatever and the association with Nazis, disapproved of by their clients.

Actual antisemitism, oppressive/discriminatory behaviour by public figures: need to know. Consensual sexual activity between adults in private: don't.

Report
LittleBella · 09/07/2008 17:24

oh he is sordid

The gist of his argument is that using prostitutes is fine, as long as you're not a nazi.

So racist or anti-semitic exploitation is bad, equal opportunities exploitation is OK.

Bleurgh

Littlebella - I hardly think a prostitute who is taking a bung from the newspapers to secretly film her clients is going to be on a moral high ground here

Quite honestly I think he's probably a more open version of a lot of public figures - whether or not he's a racist is a side issue. I think he's probably a bit of a twonk to be arguing the toss in open court - 'yes I organised and funded an orgy but I didn't request the SS' is not going to be a winning argument in anyone's book particularly with his parentage, but I'm not entirely sure it deserves all this attention.

I love his defence that even though they were acting out a prison situation and shouting in German it had nothing at all to do with the Nazis, oh no sirree. I am not an expert on S&M or whatever but is there a big scene based on the modern German prison system? I suspect not...

Actually edam......oh god how do you put this politely. On a purely linguistic point, german is a better language for swearing in, lots of hard vowels and short words. Given the choice, if you are having your arse smacked, you are going to go for a germanic language rather than a more florid language such as french/italian etc.

Besides the whole thing about S&M is it's about the forbidden - if it was socially unacceptable to have sexual fantasies about shopping at Ocado, he'd probably be shouting 'bruschetta, flame tomato and wild basil' instead

The latest I heard is that the whole German/Nazi bit is a crock of crap and now the News of the World are trying to claim that it was in the public interest to expose him because SM is so 'evil'. IE the NOTW are full of shit and were just trying to flog papers by having a go at people who have unusual (but wholly consensual) sexual tastes.

Report
whomovedmychocolate · 10/07/2008 23:55

I don't actually care one way or another madamez, although I think if anyone is seriously shocked by this they really need to realise that pretty much the whole judiciary, and quite a high percentage of the political set as well as a big chunk of the general (educated) public is either doing or thinking along similar lines.

Whatever floats you (U)boat

Thank you for the Waitrose idea, WMC, I rather wish I didn't have that image in my head... Especially as ds went on a school trip to W the other day!

Report
LittleBella · 11/07/2008 14:20

wmmc, the moral character of the prostitute woman in question is irrelevant. The point I was making is that sexual exploitation in our society is considered OK, as long as it's not racist.

Which IMO is morally vacuous.

WRT to sex workers, 'pro dommes' ie women who specialise in SM scenes, are the least 'exploited' by a long way: they tend to thoroughly enjoy their work, choose their clients and get paid a lot of money.
And Littlebella, BDSM sex may not be to your taste, but that doesn't mean that people who do enjoy it with other consenting adults are 'morally vacuous'.

foxinsocks · 11/07/2008 17:59

nah I heard the star witness for the NOTW has 'suddenly' decided not to stand (they had one and had she stood, the case was pretty much there).

Hmmm.
