Hiya all,
Just bein reading teletext on tv,, (sad, aint i lol), but this was amazing.
a 10 year old girl who was in thiland (i think), saw the waves, and saved around 100 people as she was TAUGHT what a tjunami (oh my god at my spelling) in geography in school just before they left for the holiday.
For every upsetting peice of information about this disaster, theres always something about survivors.
for everyone who know ppl over there (myself included), i'm thinking of ya

I saw this today, j. I was v impressed with the girl, but also a bit shocked that so many people didn't realise that if the water suddenly disappears, it's going to come back in again - I have definitely heard in the past that before a tsunami this will happen...loads of people wandered into the place where the water used to be to look at the fish!!!! If they'd all gone "hm, just a minute..."

Thank god those people listened to the girl and her mother.

I read about this this morning in the newspaper, I still can't work out why people stood about looking at a sea that had flown out very fast, we all have seen enough films to realise that it will come back very fast too. I think the girl was amazing and glad the holidaymakers all listened to her and didn't dismiss it.

I was really pleased the girl's mother didn't ignore her daughter's warning. The tide had suddenly gone out, so something strange was happening, but these people were not locals, so presumably did not know the beach well.

It would have been so easy for the mother to dismiss the warning as the product of a child's overactive imagination. My 10 year old comes out with stuff all the time. So often I only listen with one ear and don't believe him.
