This is so tragic. What did anyone do that was so bad, to deserve this. His family must be devastated

I saw this on the late news
By all account it was an older teen on a BMX riding by

devastating culture that is developing in this country for young men/boys

not a high horse at all.think it is worse just being 'round the corner'. I felt exactly the same about it in terms of ds, however all they were doing was playing football at 7.30pm, so what do you do wrap them up forever?

Report
stoppinattwo · 23/08/2007 08:16

I know.............wrapping them up forever isnt the answer...........but reducing the chances of things happening has got to be the way forward.

Oh it really does worry me, I bet his mother had the same worries before this happened to her son. I mean you would wonder what harm could come from going to footie training??. There are son many accidents that you can try and avoid, but this is completely out of your control, unless you are there for them as much as you can be.

Even if it means chaufering his mates around too, I dont care. I shall be the most popular mum arount...........probably NOT !!!

I felt sick when I saw this on the news last night.

Just heard about this.
It's terrible, can't believe how frequent it seems to be lately
Is there any news that the victim was known to the shooter? I know it's early days but thinking that it could be a random attack is even more worrying.

There are a lot of decent people.......sadly again the minority, which worryingly seem to be increasing are so devestating in their actions are ruining it for everyone who is good and decent

Fio, what you are saying isnt offensive, it is the truth. Hence my caution for my own children and my relucance to let them out on their own.

I keep them busy, and anyone who knows them on here knows they have a hectic social calendar for just this reason.

This is sickening isnt it.I grew up in Croxteth and went to school there and it wasn't too bad then but now i would be terrified walking round there, there has been a rew shootings in the area over the last few years.I feel so sad that things are like this, my heart goes out to his family, it doesn't matter if he was alittle angel or a little sh*t he was only 11.

This is so sad and shocking. The recent teenage shootings/stabings all seem to have been gang related (including the murder of the Manchester boy for refusing to join a gang ) But the police have clarified this afternoon that this was not gang related.
11 years old; Still just a babby really! My thoughts are with his mother.

I read an article later today saying his mum got to him just before he died

Im not an emotional person really but I drove past the place on my way home tonight, I wasnt hoping to see anything gossipy iykwim. I just wanted to confirm in my own mind that this was a perfectly normal place. Convince myself that this really did just happen anywhere.........it wasnt some seedy place (I knew that anyway)

So when I have to justify to myself why i want to take my kids to places and pick them up, and not let them out (wrapping the up and protecting them) I can I know it isnt the right thing but I could never do what that mother had to do last night and sit holding her boy till he died on a pub carpark This just make me want to cry

my aunty lives in Croxteth - she said a few months ago some lads drove past the local church and started firing random shots at it

Heard his young friend talking about the boy earlier. Very sad.

Absolutely shocking news. There seems to be a child being shot every couple of weeks somewhere in the UK. Remember the young girl not long ago in Nottingham. Makes you wonder what life will be like for our generation teenagers. It seems that there are more and more children killing other children aswell.

This evening news was heartbreaking, the parents grief made such uncomfortable viewing, I just hope that someone turns this youth in to face the justice he deserves.

Thsi is so sad.

I also think it is SO WRONG to drag the parents out to talk on national news after a tragedy of this kind. I rarely watch the news but did last night and was appalled at the way it was covered, vile.

Report
McEdam · 24/08/2007 09:20

www, I didn't see the news last night but were the parents speaking as part of a police appeal?

Report
WideWebWitch · 24/08/2007 09:34

McEdam, I turned it off after a couple of seconds because I was ashamed of myself for watching it, I just heard the mother talking about her son dying as he was in her arms, it was tragic.
