I am appalled that anyone could even think of doing this

Just that really. Some very talented people have had years of their work destroyed, it's beyond belief.

kids, no direction, no discipline and left to their own devices. They've been arrested but doubt much will be done as punishment. We're in the snowflake generation.

Abysmal behaviour, I'd be so ashamed if they were my children or family members who did this - just bloody awful and spiteful - little shits are bounding towards a life of crime

I'm heavily pregnant so may be a tad more emotional than usual, but that makes me want to cry. Those poor people.

Gutter rats who were dragged up by parents who never took the time to help them do a school project or take them to see an art display or praise them for a lovely drawing. Hell they probably never gave them pencils to draw with. Scum raised by scum who will go on to raise more scum.

That’s disgusting, those poor people must be absolutely devastated Sad
I feel gutted for them

Awful. I hope their parents are thoroughly ashamed. I would be.

BigcatLittlecat · 19/05/2019 18:28

Shocking, parents probably don't care. You don't treat anything that badly if you've been brought up with a modicum of respect for other people or things. Police will probably let them off because of lack of evidence.

We have a local park where a small group of volunteers work hard to enhance the park and raise funds to buy small things to improve the experience of the park users (e.g. a changing table in the toilets, stools for children in a garden area). Without fail it is all vandalised, the trees bought by families to commemorate loved ones are broken and anything made of metal is stolen. It is heart breaking. And this is a very naice, affluent town.

That's just really sad. Mindless. Their parents won't be horrified because I doubt they would understand the concept of hardwork and pride. Really really sad.

I'm not pregnant and it did make me cry. Unspeakable.

Little shits. So upsetting for everyone.
There has been an attack on some railway carriages belonging to the West Somerset Railway, young boys running absolutely feral, I'd string the buggers up.

That is appalling. I would be horrified if my child was involved in that. It's so sad.

Sadly I can imagine several who'd find this hilarious.

That is so awful. My DH is a model railway type and I know how he feels about the locos he's built, they're irreplaceable.

TheFairyCaravan · 19/05/2019 20:00

This is really local to me and I was utterly gobsmacked. I feel so sorry for all the people who have had their models destroyed. It's just so, so sad.

Miljah · 20/05/2019 21:31

Well. We don't know who did this, yet.

They might be 'feckless', unguided youth, with useless parents.

They might be the sons of single mums, out all hours, working 3 jobs, to put food on the table. Dads nowhere to be seen.

They might have started in SureStart, before it was more or less axed.

Is Market Deeping deprived? How much social support is there in the community? The schools?

Will the 'local community' consider this a deeply embarrassing slur on them, or 'teenage hi-jinx/what can you do?'.

The saddest thing is, there is a chance, some of these boys (yes, I know, assuming they're male...) may discover their own granddad has his pride and joy train-set there, vandalised.

But probably not.

I hope that the national, if not international interest this has aroused might cause the judge to be 'creative' in their punishment (after costs paid).

ILoveMaxiBondi · 20/05/2019 21:34

Well they should certainly be involved in the restoration of the models. It’s just about the only way they will learn just exactly how much work they destroyed.

LassOfFyvie · 20/05/2019 21:36

This upset me too. Unfortunately some people are scum. Plain and simple. Scumbags.

Snowflake generation? What a sweeping ridiculous generalisation.

You get dicks in every generation. They’re not representative of everyone - so let’s not make sweeping statements.

Report
NorthernSpirit · 20/05/2019 21:43

Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

Obviously don’t know the difference between right and wrong.

You can only blame the parents who clearly haven’t instilled any morals, values, boundaries or discipline.
