Madeleine McCann info shown before Shrek, anyone else cross about this?
(1008 Posts)I was. I have chosen NOT to tell my nearly 4yo about this. I haven't discussed it in detail with 9yo ds either I CHOOSE not to put the news on in our house. I really resent this being shoved at my children before a U cert movie. Completely inappropriate imo.
come on, THREE year olds DO NOT need to know about 'real life'
Or if they do it is up to ME to decide to tell them not the fking Odeon
they certainly dont mrruffalo
anyway the oddity and media circus that surrounds this tragic case makes it anything but 'real life' IMO
I have not spoken about this for weeks in our house, by default DS(6) thinks she was found and is back with her family. I have not agreed or disagreed, but to have that rammed down his throat in a dark cinema.
The fucking fucking bastards.
Sorry, but I am really angry.
there are many real life issues that aren't suitable for a little kids cinema trip -
parents should have the say so on what they let their kids know about the 'real world' at such a young age when it's hard for them to understand the whole news story.
PG-cert movie: OK-ish.
12, 18, fine, by all means, no problem.
But a U?
Is this being shown at every cinema before all Shrek showings?
I'd be interested to hear the logic about showing this before a children's film
I mean, small children are hardly going to be much use in finding her are they?
surely before an adults film would be more appropriate and less fricking weird
kids too young to need to know will not understand
I've emailed too
they dont need to know this info.
they are kids.
my kids know too much about other issues, without needing to know this as well.
so is it cineworld as well doing this?
great, the two local cinemas.
migth call the small 2 screen place and see if they are running it.
When did this start?
We saw shrek at the odeon when it first came out, and there was nothing other than the normal ads
lolol at kids 'needing' to know
yes my three are all set to get their fecking magnifying glasses out and look for clues
I expect they'll be so helpful and the advert will have been completely worth it
they are showing it fr the parents - a group in society whose own experience may help them empathise and maybe encourage action
mrsR - do you mean that they don't try to make sense for of what they see?? That's why there are cinema age limits as even extreme things that kids don't understand they rememebr & it effects them.
then show it at an adults film
DUR
what action?
god people are so unbelievably thick
you know what - it sounds so bloody dim to moan about your precious kids having to 'know; about this
their precious kid is god knows where
show some empathy and shut up
you are deluded
no - experienced
Oh c'mon MrR are you real?
are you one of those weirdy parents who tells their kids all about it and makes them wear yellow ribbons in their hair?

agree with everyone except mrruffalo
there is no action we can do
there is no need for children to know, especially with the use of 'snatched'. it is likely to stick in the minds of small children and play on their natural anxieties
should be a parental choice for each family, as to whether their children are aware of the situation or not
