Looks like an attempt to bomb Glasgow airport has been disrupted.
Where next?

Burning car driven into front of terminal building. Some reports of an explosion, but that likely to be the petrol tank.

suzycreamcheese Sat 30-Jun-07 16:22:38

DB i saw that too
they've just added the bit about the two men

or it could've been my dad heavy on the revs and tad impatient..

alipiggie Sat 30-Jun-07 16:22:44

Oh no

SaintGeorge Sat 30-Jun-07 16:23:39

Cherokee Jeep.

Dare I say ....bloody 4x4 drivers! <<attempt to lighten bad news day>>

DoubleBluff Sat 30-Jun-07 16:27:05

I just have a wierd feeling they are gearing up to 07/07/07.

Desiderata Sat 30-Jun-07 16:29:53

Oh, dear. It mentions that no one was hurt (other than the drivers). I hope this is true.

SaintGeorge Sat 30-Jun-07 16:31:51

I am thinking this may be some wierd accident rather than a terrorist attempt.

That fire is not big enough to have involved explosives. They are reporting that one man was burnt but then fighting with police, implying some sort of guilt. I can say with certainty (having witnessed it myself) that a burning man will fight off helpers in sheer panic.

Really not sure about this one.

DoubleBluff Sat 30-Jun-07 16:34:14

The car was driven at speed on fire through the terminal doors.
Think it was more deliberate.

ScottishMummy Sat 30-Jun-07 16:34:46

watching it on the news and internet
as i have said before the point of terrorism is to terrorise and instill fear in individuals. so it is awful but i hope everyone can be calm and business as usual

noddyholder Sat 30-Jun-07 16:36:29

There was a bomb in ibiza airport too I think This is awful

TaylorsMummy Sat 30-Jun-07 16:54:11

why glasgow? would it be cos brown is scottish?

Peachy Sat 30-Jun-07 16:56:30

could be TM

agree with SG about the fighting though- easil;y a pnicky adrenaline response. I used to do casulaty simulation with st johns, and I was always the one picked to do the fighting bit (because I am such a good actress natch.... )

Upwind Sat 30-Jun-07 17:06:04

Doublebluff, I really hope you are wrong.

alipiggie Sat 30-Jun-07 17:06:54

Funny (not) how it all happens the day/two days after Blair becomes a Peace Envoy to the Middle East. I'm so sorry that this is happening again. I hope all my wonderful friends are safe and sound in Glasgow and that no-one any of us know have been affected badly by this and the events in London.

TaylorsMummy Sat 30-Jun-07 17:08:22

isn't it a warning to brown to withdraw troops?

blair is such an arsehole.look what he's done

noddyholder Sat 30-Jun-07 17:10:17

I think they are showing us that getting rid of Blair isn't going to appease them.Blair has really f**d up with this

KristinaM Sat 30-Jun-07 17:29:57

saint george - its too early to say that there were no explosives involved. there are eye witness reports of smoke coming from the car before it hit the building. it coudl be a fizzler - a bomb that started to burn rather than explode

TaylorsMummy Sat 30-Jun-07 17:33:09

on the news they are saying something about gas cylinders??

octo Sat 30-Jun-07 17:36:21

my sister was due to fly tomorrow morning - she was also due to fly on the ones that were targeted out of heathrow last year - nightmare

octo Sat 30-Jun-07 17:36:45

to glasgow btw

Peachy Sat 30-Jun-07 17:38:45

I really hope doublebluff is wrong, 7 is a significant number in Islam BUT there's nothing yet to prove Islamic Terrorists involved is there? And we shoudl keep an open mind I think
