Universal credit, I'm so confused

Can someone please explain the new rules released today about universal credit/tax credits?
*I'm understanding it as if you already claim child tax credits then you cannot be moved on to universal credit- only if you're making a new claim?
*they're scrapping the 2 child limit and you can claim for any more children born after April 17'?
I'm so confused, i only have 2 dc and really really don't want any more but I always panic in case I was to accidentally fall pregnant. We physically couldn't afford another baby.
I'm also obviously worried about universal credit after reading horror stories in the news.

The two child limit for TCs has been in place for nearly two years: best make sure contraception is watertight then Smile

lf you are in a uc area any change of circumstances moves you over to uc.

They aren't scrapping the 2 child limit, but they wont be applying it to children born before it came in to force which was going to be the next step.

It really is- 2 types! But I still panic that's how much I don't want another baby!

and I couldn't afford childcare for a 3rd without tc help, I also didn't want anymore. So I got my tubes tied.

Yeah but that’s not really a UC issue - I hate it, it’s wank, but that is a change I am in favour of tbh.

At the moment, if you are claiming TC and have a change of circumstances which would mean an entirely new claim (such as starting or ending a relationship), you have to start a new claim for UC instead (unless you have 3+ children or a few other exemptions. But everyone will be migrated across to UC eventually. Amber Rudd has delayed it, but it is still going to happen at some point.

If I had to make a UC claim, the two child limit would mean I didn't get any support for my third child. The changes to the two child limit mean that as my third child was born before 6 April '17, if I made a UC claim he would be counted (when families with 3+ children are able to claim UC as at present they can't). You still cannot claim for children born on or after 6 April '17 (unless certain exceptions apply).

You wouldn't be able to claim for a 3rd baby.

Well yes, we all should be worried, and angry, and writing to our MPs to tell them so, because UC is a horror story.

Hi everybody, Just wondered if you can take the time to sign my petition to scrap Universal credit. Please share with as many as you can on social media. Thanks in advance.
