RIP Dianne Oxberry

Sadly the presenter Dianne Oxberry has died. People may remember her from Radio One in the late eighties, early nineties. She then retrained as a meteorologist and presented the weather for the BBC in the North West. She was an excellent presenter and according to those who knew her a lovely person. She leaves a husband and two young children.

I was really saddened to hear this news. Dianne seems to have been presenting our local news programme forever; utterly professional, always cheery and natural and down to earth. Just seemed like someone you could go and share a bottle of wine with.

I never get really sad about the loss of celebrities and people I don't know. But for some reason this really resonates.

Yes, I read about this this morning. It's so sad. Her colleagues were very fond of her and she seemed like a lovely person. It was so sudden too. RIP.

So devastating and so young. I remember her well from the Simon Mayo and Radio One days. RIP.

Anyone who lives in the NW will be familiar with Dianne

I have shed a few tears watching the tributes to her on the lunch time news

Farewell Dianne, you truly were a ray of sunshine

So sad seeing her collegues well up on the news today breaking the news.

No age at all.

Sounds silly but when i was living in london and I would come home. Home being the north west. Always used to comfort me watching north west tonight and hearing northern accents. Made me realise I was home.

Had a big sob when I read the news at 6.30am.

As someone said in one of the tributes at lunchtime, she was like a piece of furniture in the corner of the room for those of us in the North West.

RIP Dianne.

Such sad news this morning and such a shock too, she was on our local news and the type of person that you felt like you knew. Really awful.

The tributes have been so heartfelt. It must be such a terrible shock for the people around her to have lost her so suddenly.

The wonderful Lemn Sissay tweeted this earlier:
She saw and named storms
With calm and hazel eyes
I shalln't think her as 'passed away'
I'll think of heras sun rise

Sad

They did so well to get through that. It was heartbreaking to watch them have to talk about her passing.

Been on my mind all day. I met her at Tatton Flower show last year. She was such a lovely soul and my heart goes out to her husband and children. A North West institution

Annabel was very sweet. Seems like there were some strong friendships in that team. They must be in shock, poor things. And her family ! Awful.

Well that was a sob fest.

Sophie Raworth described her as the very lovely Dianne Oxberry. So true.

That was hard to watch. Even Gordon Burns struggled to hold it together. So moving. Life is short.

Yes, poor Annabel. I'm surprised at how upset I've been about this. So young.

I feel a bit stupid but I'm really upset about this. I heard it this morning while at work and I was honestly shocked and since then it's been on my mind, thinking about her kids, thinking about her husband, wondering what the hell happened, I mean it was only in November that she walked all those miles for Children In Need and now this has happened so suddenly.
