This is in my home town. What is very strange is that no body has been found. Two people were arrested on suspicion of murder but have now been released and are no longer suspects and the police are now saying he could still be alive.

I am so sorry for his poor family. Somebody must know where he is. Unless he decided to disappear for some reason.

That's very sad and strange. I hadn't heard of this missing young man. I hope he's found safe and well.

It’s terrible. I read that he’d texted his mum to say he arrived back safely but obviously that wasn’t the case. The poor family

Very sad. He looks such a happy boy, too

There is something strange about the way the press releases are being done. I hope he's found safely.

Oh, that's really sad. There was a very similar case when I was a teenager, unfortunately in that case the boy had been killed in an accident and the body wasn't easy to find. It was reported similarly because when people came forward it was then clear if they knew something or if they knew "more" than a witness could have known if that makes sense.

He even looks quite similar :( I hope it's not the same kind of situation and that Thomas is found safe.

I'm wondering if he had fallen into the river, could he have been swept downstream?

That's what happened with the boy local to me sadly.

The problem is that when people have been drinking they do silly things sadly. My ex boyfriend walked along the outside of the railings on that bridge for a dare - so dangerous! I know of someone also I'm Worcester who's son jumped in the canal for a joke and drowned. It's so sad - young people think they're invincible.

I heard about him as well, my brother lives up that way and teaches at one of the schools. I hope there is some news soon.

Really sad story

I'm confused how two people can be arrested on suspicion of murder, then released without charge whilst it's still unknown what happened to him.

Surely to arrest someone on suspicion of murder, there needs to be reasonable grounds for that suspicion? But from the sounds of it there's no clue as to what happened to him

Yes that is very strange.

I think potentially there may have been something seen between them earlier in evening, but presumably nothing more after questioning. Sadly the river does tend to return bodies after about ten to fourteen days as they break down. I desperately hope he is alive for his parents and friends.

I’m following this news with great hope that he is found soon. I can’t imagine how awful his parents are feeling. Why did he say he was back when he wasn’t? Why do they do that?! His mum must have replayed that conversation so many times now. I’m really thinking of them.

I've been following this story. How unutterably sad. Just as his life was beginning too.

God. I feel actual visceral pain thinking about it; you send your young person out into the world, and 2 days later, they're That Statistic.

I have always had an understanding after DS2, aged 4, went missing for 20 minutes on a camping holiday. That was 13 years ago but still the worst 20 minutes of my life.

And, yes, I have a Fresher at uni right now.
