The ghastly predator remains caged. A victory for common sense.

Our streets will be safer without him.
Baffling the parole board judged Worboys was fit for release only weeks after the prison said he was not fit to be sent to an open prison.

Chairman of the parole board was forced to resign just before the announcement. Quite right too. The original decision was inexplicable and now he won't get the opportunity to unleash other monsters onto the street.

Thank goodness for that. I've never heard such utter madness. This must have been unspeakable for his victims.

Great news. Well done to all who campaigned to stop his release.

My thoughts are with the many victims who have suffered unparalled stress from having to speak out and campaign against his release.

Brilliant news! How many other rapists and DV perpetrators are released early I wonder?

It's great news and the correct decision. Shame it was such a monumental cock up in the first place. There's blame to be shared between the police, CPS and parole board or maybe the system in general. I hope systems are now put in place to prevent this madness in future.

I don't agree that it is "quite right too" that the Chair of the Parole Board has had to resign. He seems to be being made a scapegoat for the government's serious failures in funding the parole system properly - in particular, in this case, the fact that they didn't bother to instruct counsel to represent them before the Parole Board, or to assign a judge to deal with the application.

Useful commentary from the women' lawyers here: www.matrixlaw.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/DSD-explanatory-note-in-the-Worboys-case-27.3.18.pdf

It’s only until another hearing.

But the new parole board will have to take into account the factors the original one seem to have missed, e.g. the fact that Worboys had paid out hefty damages to victims in cases where he hadn't been convicted yet didn't admit to those offences. I would hope also that the MoJ will take heed of the court's comments about having a judge on the new panel and ensuring that the case against parole is presented by counsel.

I am sadly cynical about this. Good news regarding one horrific rapist. But I feel that this falls into the category of fuck-ups caused by chronic underfunding that result in public condemnation. This government does suddenly reverse some decisions for purely political reasons on the odd occasion it gets too much bad press. Usually some public servant either falls on their sword or gets pushed. No politician responsible for the fuck up (and the others that we don't know about) ever resigns, or the policy that lead to the fuck up being reversed.

Who else has been released who shouldn't or been, or who is still locked up for longer than they should have been? Due to the huge cuts to the justice system, of which parole is one part, probably more sex offenders will be released early, if they are ever found guilty. See the northern irish rugby players.
