His cancelled film was to be a 'hilarious' tale of a 17-year-old girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) in a relationship with a 68 year old filmmaker.

So basically a sexual fantasy about what actually happens in Hollywood anyway.

At least five women have named him for sexual assaults.

Fuck him.

This has been an open secret in the US - and all over the internet - for years.

I’ve been waiting for it to come out since the Weinstein story broke. Ed Westwick, on the other hand, that was a bit of a shock.

Yep theonly . I only knew who he was because his name was mentioned on gossip site threads.

He has been telling us who he is for years through his stand-up and sketches. We have start believe them when they tell us.

He has always made jokes about masturbating in front of unsuspecting women and on his sitcom Louie had a bit about pressuring his wife into anal sex. This is who he is. Not a nice guy. Not a feminist icon. Fuck him.

He's a complex character. A lot of his stuff implies he gets it and is pointing out the disgusting way men behave... and then other stuff.... ugh.

What fucks me off is the men around him who continue to work with him despite knowing what he does, the American late show hosts going easy on him because he's a pal... it's a fucking disgrace.

I guarantee you there are hundreds of men (at least) in the entertainment industry living in fear right now. Maybe they'll get some idea what it's like. Fuckers.

Also, the film itself hasn't been cancelled, just the premiere - not sure about distribution at this point but I know people who've seen it at festivals already (mainly Toronto I think)

Well, his statement released today is certainly full and frank. I guess - at least he's sparing the women he targeted being dragged through the vitriol that has been levelled at others brave enough to speak out? But imagine what he could have spared them if he had just decided not to be a colossal pervert in the first place...

Oh and the film release has been cancelled now.

"I want to address the stories told to the New York Times by five women named Abby, Rebecca, Dana, Julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not.

"These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn't a question. It's a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly.

"I have been remorseful of my actions. And I've tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I'm aware of the extent of the impact of my actions. I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position.

"I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didn't want to hear it. I didn't think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it.

"There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.

"I wish I had reacted to their admiration of me by being a good example to them as a man and given them some guidance as a comedian, including because I admired their work.

"The hardest regret to live with is what you've done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them. I'd be remiss to exclude the hurt that I've brought on people who I work with and have worked with who's professional and personal lives have been impacted by all of this, including projects currently in production: the cast and crew of Better Things, Baskets, The Cops, One Mississippi, and I Love You Daddy. I deeply regret that this has brought negative attention to my manager Dave Becky, who only tried to mediate a situation that I caused. I've brought anguish and hardship to the people at FX who have given me so much, The Orchard, who took a chance on my movie. and every other entity that has bet on me through the years.

"I've brought pain to my family, my friends, my children and their mother.

"I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen.

"Thank you for reading."

I guess it's easier for him to be honest right, because he can say "well I never touched anyone" and "I asked them first so I thought it was okay".

Think it will be a cold day in hell before we see a certain celebrity coming forward saying "sure, I did drug and anally rape a model, but she did come to my hotel"

It is a 'good' apology.

But I agree with Tammy, it's easier for him than the other creeps.

Excellent article, NauticalDisaster - thanks for posting it. I think this tweet is the crucial one, which speaks for all those Hollywood men who are finally being outed for what they are - and all the enablers and facilitators who kept their mouths shut as long as the cash kept rolling in.

Yes, that was a perfect tweet.

Radfem Collective shared this cracked article on Facebook, it is also quite good: www.cracked.com/blog/louis-ck-has-enjoyed-flaunting-his-misconduct/

The heartening thing is that more people are getting it rather than excusing his behaviour as not that bad or saying at least he apologised (well some are doing both of these but less than I expected).

I worry his career won’t be over though. So far, the late night comics haven’t been quite so damning of him as other perverts/sexual abusers. Maybe that would be hypocritical of them...? 🤔

He's worked with all of them back in their writing days - given the level of enabling that goes on it doesn't surprise me a bit.
