A mother who has spent 42 years arguing that the baby she was told to say goodbye to in the morgue was not hers, finally got an order to exhume the body for DNA testing, and the coffin was found to be empty.

I don't know the woman, the baby or the area, but poor woman. I could cry for her.

My Dp was telling me about that story earlier. It's horrific isn't it. The poor woman and baby.

42 years ago somebody closed that coffin knowing it was empty. That person might still be alive.

Stillborn babies and neonatal deaths used to be treated the same. That the baby should be taken away and never mentioned again. It was bloody awful.

A woman that I used to know had a stillbirth at the same time that I was born. She was told that she couldn't see her baby and that the hospital would 'deal with him' She wanted to see him but was told that she wasn't allowed to. She told me the detail of the birth but I won't repeat it here.

Read the Alder Hey inquiry. All sorts used to go on. Some probably still goes on today.

The baby's name is Gary. His mum, Lydia Reid, has been treated so awfully. Someone knows or knew that the coffin was empty. It is hideous.
