That made me smile

Funny - not one word of congratulation either for Connolly or J. K. Rowling. Don't suppose their stance on independence has anything to do with it.

redshoeblueshoe · 17/06/2017 17:25

Well cd I congratulate the pair of them. I hope I'm not alone

It made me snarf Grin

I wish I could have witnessed his immediate reaction to the news....

Sir BigYin, I salute you Thanks

PacificDogwod · 17/06/2017 17:27

Oh, JK too?
Marvellous Thanks

Nyx · 17/06/2017 19:38

Not one word of congratulations where, cd? I'm sure there will be plenty. We just found out today, didn't we? Congratulations to them both from me anyway.

BC is a legend! Love him!

Maudlinmaud · 17/06/2017 20:20

I saw BC talking about it on BBC news. He's a wee dote. I love him so much.

ItsNachoCheese · 17/06/2017 20:24

Thourghly deserved knighthood and he should of had one years ago. Billy connolly is an absolute treasure to scotland

PacificDogwod · 17/06/2017 20:27

I agree, his honour was a wee bit overdue.
I wonder what he made of it....? Grin

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 17/06/2017 20:28

Proper national treasure. If you can get it outside Scotland, I recommend the recent BBC Scotland programme 'Billy Connolly: Portrait of a Lifetime' about the three huge murals of him that Glasgow got in honour of his 75th birthday. Funny and moving and altogether very lovely telly.

dementedma · 17/06/2017 20:32

Good for him. Way more deserved than an OBE for that torn faced harpy Judy Murray whose claim to fame is giving birth to two sons who turned out to be good at tennis!

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 17/06/2017 20:36

Saw Billy live once - had sore sides for days. . A true comedian.
Arise Sir Big Yin. .

tabulahrasa · 17/06/2017 20:40

"Way more deserved than an OBE for that torn faced harpy Judy Murray whose claim to fame is giving birth to two sons who turned out to be good at tennis!"

She was their coach... wee bit more to do with her than just giving birth to them.

I don't particular care for her either way, but that description of her seems a bit unwarranted.

Maudlinmaud · 17/06/2017 20:42

Pacific he said he felt embarrassed, but I think that's because he's humble.

BandeauSally · 17/06/2017 20:44

Brilliant news! Congratulations billy! It was well overdue.

PacificDogwod · 17/06/2017 21:53

Just watched the BBC Scotland documentary - lovely, just lovely Smile

I know want photographs of those 3 portraits blown up to ginormous sizes on Glaswegian buildings.
Does anybody know their location??
One looks like it was behind St Enoch's Centre...

ItsNachoCheese · 17/06/2017 21:57

PacificDogwod · 17/06/2017 22:02

Thank you.
I might have a trip with a 'proper' camera Smile

I take it you have no idea how active Judy Murray is in trying to get young kids, particularly girls into playing tennis? She also was GB's Fed Cup captain until recently.

Sanscollier · 19/06/2017 10:05

What a horrible thing to say DementedMa.

A family member who is involved in children's tennis coaching has met Judy Murray several times and she is not a torn faced harpy at all, rather the reverse. She found her to be cheerful, professional , positive, personable, and very down to earth. And as Trixy says she does a huge amount for British tennis. Also, you have to do way more than "just give birth" to your dc for them to become elite athletes playing sport at the highest level - you basically give up your own life for them - the selflessness and dedication required is unbelievable.

Also, a great actor and presenter SmileSmileSmile

Saw the paintings featured on ONE SHOW iirc SmileSmileSmile

LunaMay · 19/06/2017 10:19

I love that man. I didnt notice the Sir in the title so my heart dropped when i first saw it, was expecting bad news!

dementedma · 19/06/2017 10:24

loads of parents give up their lives for their talented offspring - they don't all milk the media to death for their own glory. How many other Olympians, para olympians and commonwealth athletes' mums and dads have OBEs? Not many.
