DUP - Catholics to be "expelled, nullified, or interned."

Article from The Telegraph:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/10/dup-mps-now-hold-balance-power/

"In 1994 the Ulster Defence Association had published a document intending to "establish an ethnic Protestant homeland". It discussed taking large sections of the Catholic community hostage as "bargaining chips" for the release of Protestants living in counties where the British Army no longer patrolled.

As a DUP press officer at the time, Mr Wilson said: "While some will no doubt denounce and ridicule their plan, nevertheless it shows that some loyalist paramilitaries are looking ahead and contemplating what needs to be done to maintain our separate Ulster identity."

A 23 year old comment by a press officer - must try harder.

The DUP is not the UDA.

cdtaylornats, the DUP have very close ties with the UDA.

Arlene Foster, the DUP leader, defended her recent meeting with UDA boss Jackie McDonald in south Belfast within 48 hours of the murder in Bangor of Colin Horner in front of his three-year-old son.

Mr McDonald urged loyalists to support the DUP in the recent election, and praised Mrs Foster, saying her "experience and dedication has helped bring about stability and prosperity".

Sammy Wilson DUP, the press office in the post above, is the returning MP for East Antrim who only yesterday warned Thersa May of the price to be paid for DUP support.

To be fair. Anything said pre GFA doesn't count.

And I'd say that about terrorists who were released too. From whatever side.

anything pre GFA isn't really relevant.

You'd have been better to pick sammy's Spackman interview where he agreed with someone who wants the ethnics out.

The Conservatives will enter government with the DUP, which is backed by the Ulster Defence Association (UDA).

The UDA is less known in England than the IRA, largely because they killed Northern Irish Catholics during the Troubles, which didn’t make the news as often as the killing of English people or security personnel.

The UDA is a violent loyalist paramilitary group, which is still active today. Colin Horner was shot dead in front of his three-year-old son in broad daylight just TWO WEEKS AGO on Sunday afternoon MAY 28 2017

The DUP leader Arlene Foster met with UDA boss Jackie McDonald at a community office in the Taughmonagh area of south Belfast on the following Tuesday MAY 30 2017 during canvassing ahead of the general election.

The DUP leader Arlene Foster has previously been criticised for being pictured next to alleged north Down UDA commander Dee Stitt.

Abi

I know all this. I've been debating it on other threads.

The uda didn't just kill Catholics by the way.

Jeremy Corbyn says he can still be PM. Since the only way he can do it is with DUP support he is presumably also willing to do a deal with them. Of course, it is very unlikely they would be willing to support him due to his IRA-sympathising past.

Why would he need DUP support? There are other parties.

Those of you who object to DUP politics do you also object to Germany where Angela Merkel refuses to allow same sex marriage?

What has that to do with British politics?

Well a lot of people seem to want to be in a group voting along with her.

Gordon Brown apparently was in talks with the DUP.

Yes there are other parties but they don't have enough seats. To govern he needs a majority in the House of Commons. Without the DUP he hasn't got one.

Allowing DUP to dictate UK government policy as the price for keeping Theresa May in Downing street is an entirely different matter.

Since the LibDems and SNP are refusing to support the Tories, the only alternative is allowing the DUP to dictate government policy as the price for keeping Jeremy Corbyn in Downing Street.

Having said that, what is being discussed appears to be a confidence and supply deal rather than a coalition. That gives the DUP limited influence. And the characterisation of them based on things said over 20 years ago at a time when the IRA campaign was in full swing is, frankly, ridiculous.

Colin Horner was murdered in front of his three year-old son JUST 20 DAYS AGO.

Neither have republican terrorists.

I don't understand your point. There have been a million threads about this on the last week on here.

Report
abilockhart · 17/06/2017 20:29

The UK government or Queen's speech is not being dictated by republican terrorists. It is being dictated by a party supported by loyalist terrorists. This is a very grave concern.

This thread was from last week. cdtaylornats revived it.

The DUP is nothing like as bad today as people are saying.
