Has Katie Hopkins got a point?

scanned her article this morning. I notice she doesn't appear to have anything constructive to say.

No consensus here.

For years I would have completely disagreed with her.

But I do think Islam needs to be able to say "we don't interpret it this way". And it doesn't - the written word is the official word. It is so easy for pissed off young men to take it literally.

So yes, I think she has a point. It's quite difficult to see this as a religion of peace when the texts cannot be modernised.

she just seems to be ranting on with her " we've had enough" stuff......how does she suggest we move forward?

I never read her vitriolic ramblings.

If she has a point she should try not hiding it in sneering purple prose and people might actually be able to take her points on board.

As it is, she doesn't believe the half of what she writes, so why should I take her seriously?

Yes she does have a point here, a good one...She often does in my view, , it's just that she expresses herself in a way that pisses people off . But I suppose she doesn't at all mind that.

No, no she doesn't.
She has literally never 'had a point' despite 'making points' for a living.
She is a ghastly, hate-filled bigot and the world would be a better place if we all ignored her.
I have no idea which of her supposed 'points' you are talking about because I studiously avoid her.
Try it. You will feel better, I promise.

Katie Hopkins does have a point. Not just with this, but all her articles follow a similar, if not identical, theme. You may read Hopkins and think, wow, that's a strong thing to say and I don't really agree, but ... It becomes a sort of head adjustment as people think, hmm, well, she's gone too far and I don't agree with all of that, but I do agree with some. In all the hype about outspoken celebrities, Hopkins has become a sort of Medusa and other, more nuanced views, don't stand out all that much. It's the drip drip effect of hearing the odd passing thought that occasionally passes through people's minds put out there and published where people can gasp in shock or amusement or horror because even if people think Hopkins has gone a step too far, even if people think her views aren't representative of everything that they think, she is voicing some of them, and therefore shifting the goalposts for everybody.

No not for me paleblue. I've only read a few articles of hers and can't say I agree with her on most of the points she makes, but they've been quite thought provoking. Often thoughts you dont want to have provoked I admit. But I think she says what a lot of people/journalists are thinking but daren't say out loud and there's always going to be a demand for that sort of thing, just as long as there's silent consensus on certain issues and there's taboo subjects/ subject areas that exist. Which will be always - probably..

She made a fair point about how the Mc Canns, being middle class professionals, were given a far easier time in the press and in the court of public opinion. Than they would if they'd been a monosyllabic, working class couple, turning up to press conferences in Sports Direct gear, smothered in tattoos and sucking on fags.

I dont by any means, always agree with her, but she doesn't offend me any more than Hitchens, Burchill, Toynbee who all annoy me and sometimes offend me. But who gives a toss what offends me anyway?

I'm sure she does sometimes.

Even a stopped clock and all that.

It's just really hard to find it through all the other shit.

The vast majority of Muslims do not ''interpret it this way''. Who do you want to speak out? Many Muslims already are Confused

Our texts don't need to be modernised, they need to stop being twisted, misinterpreted and taken out of context by dangerously confused people trying to justify their repulsive desires.

How are we supposed to decide whether or not she has a point, when you don't tell us what she said? Confused
