Victoria Beckham - £10m US TV deal

Well after reading this , is it no wonder that many young girls aspire to be WAGs or have a celebrity career? They see her making lots of money for doing very little besides being who she is (and I don't blame her btw if she can find eejits to pay her that kind of money).

When they do look into her world (which won't include hubby or sons) what will they find beside a lettuce leaf, clothes and shoes I wonder?

Oh this is great - remember all those sneerers who said "well she'll be nobody over there, they won't be at all interested, that'll show her!!"?

Good. I agree about being nobody except who she is but because of that she does know loads of other interesting people (and in any case she is always good value on TV IMHO)

What happened to the days when a documentary was some thing that was intellectually stimulating. I can't imagine her "world" is interesting enough to hold someone's attention for an hour.

If it's being made by NBC then hopefully we won't have to watch it.
Does it mean that she is getting $10million to add to the other hundreds of millions of pounds she has?

Fly-on-the-wall, paula. Blame that bloke called Paul who did the first one about the family (you won't know who I mean, hang on, I'll look it up)

Sky will just pick it up from NBC

Here you go, paula. The Family was 1974 and it's all been downhill since then

But whats that worth to someone who has xxx amount of millions in the bank already, I mean an extra £10 million does'nt mean she will then be able to afford all the things she ever wanted, because she already can, if they never earned another penny in thier lives, I doubt they will ever have to budget.

Oh just ignore me, I am only jealous

No!!! - your lot started it!

saltire · 28/02/2007 10:41

eclipse, that's how they (especially her) come across though - as greedy. Like they sit down at night and say "well we only have 200 million so we need to get out and make even more"
I get annoyed at footballers in general though as they make more money in a week than my DH, and others in the Forces, nurses police, etc make in a year

Well yes, but so do investment bankers and film stars and property developers.

To be fair to her though she was in one of the biggest girl band ever. Millions of records sold.

So she did have a hugely successful career of her own before she became Mrs Beckham - was much more famous than DB when they first married - unlike say Colleen thingummy bob.

I'm sorry I can't take responsibility I wasn't even born yet.

Yes jan you're right, but we aren't subjected to daily pictures of investment bankers out on the town pouting at the press, and telling us how much money they make from deals etc Admittedly we do with some film stars, but not all

Agree Puddle that her fame and money came originally from one of the most highly marketed pop bands in the world. I think both she and David will be hugely successful in the USA because the Americans like winners and both have earnt their money rather than be born into it.

I just hate the obsession of the media with fluff. Since the Spice Girls, she only seems to pout, diet, wear clothes that make her appear that she is trying too hard and deliver another offspring every couple of years. Where is the substance?

Give me Helen Mirren any day - she is a woman of substance.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!

Beside her, a great big pail of ditchwater begins to look mighty interesting.

I am SO F*ING SICK of seeing her pouty, lollipop head perching precariously above that designer clad skinny body. She ahs no substance and bores the living shite out of me. Just give it up, you shallow, boring clothes horse.

It seems strange to 'look inside her world' but not mention her husband or kids! I thought they were her world! But hey, good luck to the woman.

And just in case any US documentary makers want to look inside my world, feel free to CAT me I will happily bear my soul, husband, kids and anything else you can think of for much less than you are paying Mrs Beckham

She does look like she is trying to hard doesn't she? Have you seen the way she is dressing in LA? People in the States (except maybe New York) just don't dress like that everyday.

she is anorexic - giving a bad message to women all over the world that the most interesting thing to be is hungry.

Report
speedymama · 28/02/2007 11:16

But Dimple, she will probably be able to exchange tips with the other emaciated lollipops in La La Land so she is in good company.

I'm sorry - I don't think she's anorexic. She's obviously proud of her skinniness - anorexics tend to have a dysmorphic (sp?) body image and would want to cover up their bodies, always believing them to be hideous. She's just in the 'who can be the skinniest celebridee competition' which is quite a different matter. Vacuous bitch.

apologies - did not realise about the body dismorphic aspect and 'anorexic' is not a word to be bandied around like that - sorry.

but yes she is setting a very bad example. Did you see that BBC3 thing about size 0? The presenter was fab and the programme was very infomrative.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 28/02/2007 11:35

i didn't see it. There seems to be an awful lot of TV progs at the moment that are either about obesity or size 0/anorexia.

And they wonder why we have an unhealthy relationship with food? I wish the media would stop obsessing about whether we are too fat or too thin, it makes us think too much. And that goes for the likes of VB who think they are what we are actually aspiring to. Like hell, we are (or me, anyway)

Report
GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 28/02/2007 11:36

BTW, I was calling VB a vacuous bitch, not you, Dimpled
