The irony of this is that it will probably serve to keep our oil and gas demand (and hence prices) higher rather than lower. I don't think this is a good thing. I think we need to increase our nuclear (a bit like France).
Hopefully it is only a matter of a more thorough consultation and that the nuclear agenda will become reality in the not too distant future.
