Really hope it's just a horrible mix-up (child using friend bike etc) but
Child seen getting into vw van and leaving bike on floor- see news report and share on twitter if you can

Relatively local. Bit frightening. Hope child is ok and there's a harmless explanation.

Seems odd nobody has reported him missing or come forwards if it were a mix up. Hopefully it's innocent.

I'm in the local area. It's reassuring that no child has been reported missing but at the same time I can't help but think that the police are holding back on some information to be taking this so seriously.

Stumbled across the scene collecting DH from station last night. Very odd no one has reported him missing though

The police are taking it seriously because it's a report of a potential child abduction and they have to. Like all the white van incidents that they send out "please be vigilant" messages about.

It doesn't mean they think that anything has actually happened- but they always, rightly, err on the side of caution.

The whole thing is bizarre and worrying. The police latest I'd they tracked down the owner a van they were interested in but they've ruled that our now still looking for same black van though.
Near a station they must be tons if CCTV though would have thought they'd have a reg number by now to release?
No one has reported a missing child yet but the coverage if this in the area and nationally if it was an innocent mix up why wouldn't you have contacted the police to explain?

Yes, very odd, I can't think how a child could have got to where the bike was left without having been picked up on CCTV

I would put money on the van fly tipping the bike and a vivid imagination filling in the rest.

Or just a vivid imagination creating the whole thing.

There was an abduction reported in Croydon with no reports of a missing child that turned out to be a false alarm. m.suttonguardian.co.uk/news/8213864.Breaking_News__Manhunt_called_off_for_alleged_kidnappers/

Report

Yep- just like all the other "men in a van tried to grab a child" stories.

Don't be so dismissive, Bertrand!
I was once almost abducted by a man in a van. It was Robert Black's MO. It does happen.

I reckon someone would have noticed by now if their 6/7 year old had gone missing.
