"The assailant, a 25-year-old Frenchman of Moroccan origin, was jailed in 2013 for helping Islamist militants go to Pakistan and had been under security service surveillance, including wiretaps, at the time of the attack, police sources said.
The attacker filmed part of the assault live on the social network Facebook, according to David Thomson, a journalist specialized in radical Islamists. In his Facebook message, he linked the attack to the Euro 2016 soccer tournament now under way in France, saying: "The Euros will be a graveyard."
The attacker, named by police and justice sources as Larossi Abballa, knifed the 42-year-old commander repeatedly in the stomach on Monday evening.
He then barricaded himself inside the house in Magnanville, a suburb some 60 km (40 miles) west of Paris, taking the man's 36-year-old partner and their three-year-old son hostage.
Police commandos shot Abballa dead when they stormed the house after negotiations failed but they found the woman, a secretary at a police station in a nearby suburb, killed with a knife, a source close to the investigation said. " Most reports are saying the heads were cut off and the boy was found in a state of 'serious shock'"
IN Texas:
"A SWAT team shot and killed an armed suspect who took hostages at a Walmart in Amarillo, Texas Tuesday afternoon, investigators confirmed, saying all the hostages are now safe.
Police identified the gunman late Tuesday as 54-year-old Mohammad Moghaddam."
ISIS has claimed responsibility for the acts and he has been identified as an Iranian nationalist.

"BRUSSELS, June 15 (UPI) -- Police in Belgium and France were warned Wednesday of imminent attacks by Syrian terrorists, a Brussels newspaper said, citing a Belgian counter-terrorism unit.
The message from the federal counter-terrorism agency Ocam, sent to local police and published in Brussels' French-language newspaper Derniere Heure, read in part: "Combatants are thought to have left Syria around a week and a half ago to reach Europe via Turkey and Greece by boat without passports. These people are thought to have split into two groups -- one for Belgium, the other for France, in order to commit terror attacks in groups of two. According to information collected, these people are thought to already be in possession of the necessary weaponry and their attack is imminent."
The newspaper also said Mohamed Abrini, arrested after the March attacks on Brussels' airport and a train station in which 32 people died, attempted to smuggle a note from his jail cell. The note, intercepted within the jail, read, "Something is moving in France."
