In the system that is being created it is not even just 'able children and adults' that are wanted, it is a very few rich white aggressive men and a few crumbs chucked under the table to the rest of us. In that system, law goes back to being the tool of the powerful against the ordinary people that it was in Victorian times. How many people can actually afford to access it at need already?

Everyone who is not in the top 1% urgently needs to wake up and realise a world without public services and redistribution means. Go and read Dickens!

Utter rubbish. The country is full of extremely high-principled lawyers: look at any firm doing legal aid work, for instance, and you will find people doing very high quality work for a fraction of what they could be paid in private practice. Do you think the lawyers who worked for the Hillsborough families are without morals?

As for being prepared to defend criminals - if you had been accused unjustly of a crime you had not committed, do you think you might by any chance be very grateful for the help a lawyer could give you? Or might yo consider asking a lawyer to help if you were the subject of domestic abuse, or being sued for something you didn't owe, or if you or someone close to you was seriously disabled as a result of someone else's negligence?

This firm is rightly being referred to the Solicitors' Regulation Authority, precisely because it is not complying with solicitors' compulsory professional standards rules.

You mean they were caught red-handed, doing something very stupid publicly. If they had just said something of this nature privately to a few people, to the people who lost the case, what would have come of it? Sod all.

I don't doubt there are some good legal people left. But don't try to pretend there aren't bad ones. The very fact that this firm has been so open and public about it shows that there is a problem hidden behind the scenes.

Our official culture now promotes selfish aggressive 'must win no matter what' mentalities thanks to the worship of private wealth. I think we are slowly beginning to wake up and recognise the social ramifications, but it's coming a bit slow and possibly a bit late.
