How sad. Inside a gay nightclub, they say there are hostages and the shooter could have an explosive

Sad

Some great stats on the BBC news website about gun violence in the US vs other countries, including an awesome graph comparing deaths by guns vs deaths by terrorism. When will they wake up to their idiotic obsession with guns?

That's so awful, why on earth are guns still legal over there when there's so much gun violenceSad. Do they know who the shooter is yet?

Their obsession with guns is ridiculous

Somebody has posted a video it's on the bbc news site, gun shots heard "going back and forth" I'm assuming it's between the shooter and the police

This makes me so so sad. Why can't they just ban guns over there? I know they like to defend the second amendment or whatever it's called, but seriously, enough is enough!

According to Pags link there has been 161 mass shootings in the US so far this year (baring in mind it's only June)

What a sad and shocking statistic

372 mass shootings in the US in 2015. When will these people wake up??

The statistics of children coming to harm or dying from the guns kept in their own houses is also shocking.

The 'Right To Bear Arms' is ingrained in the society, the constitution (well, an amendment anyway) and in the social fabric of the US. What I totally fail to see is why they cannot get a grip and tighten gun control?!
Fecking hideous. Just because every has the right to own a gun does not mean that they should. Or need to.

A friend of mine is going to Orlando this weekend. With her toddler. They are unlikely to frequent gay nightclubs, but these shootings can be so random, it is frightening.

The county sheriff has said that this could be considered "a domestic terrorist type incident." All mass shootings are really, but it's rare to hear a law enforcement officer actual say as much.

The FBI have also said they're investigating it as an act of terrorism.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

It is pointless talking to Americans about it either, they fail to see a problem

"It's not guns it's lack of mental health care"

"If somebody wants to kill a load of people they will, wether they have a gun or not" (bit easier to kill a load of people with a semi automatic weapon than with a knife !)

"My state has really strict gun controls but people can still get guns, tightening laws makes no difference" (yes because other states have very lax laws and there are millions of guns in circulation in the country)

"What about the shooting in France" (yes they often have mass shootings there, I've lost count of how many French kids have ran amok in a school shooting other kids Hmm )
