Surely if you choose to resist arrest in this way then it is your choice?
Glad rhe police continue to say he will be arrested.

Because he says so and he is JULIAN ASSANGE therefore it must be true.

I can't understand it either. Surely he's just avoiding lawful arrest?

Apparently the police haven't been stationed outside the Ecuadorian embassy for several months Confused So how would they know if he tried to sneak away in a craven and cowardly manner?

Report
aginghippy · 04/02/2016 13:36

Also he has the money to pay expensive lawyers to say they agree with him.

Yeah and what's he actually meant to have done? Sexually assaulted a woman or two, stop bloody whining

"Julian Assange" is an anagram of "Sausage La Jinn".
And "Alien An Ass Jug".

Oh, he's all about the truth, is Julian. Truth and openness.
Unless it adversely affects him, of course.

I don't get it either.

He has chosen to hole up somewhere where he cannot be arrested.

No one is detaining him there.

There is a valid warrant for his arrest, and for as long as that exists he is liable to be detained by the police if/when discovered by them.

As long as the Swedes seek his extradition, there aren't any options for the British authorities other than to co-operate.

It's also an anagram of deluded spoiled cowardly twat. Almost.
Seriously though, it's fucking ridiculous. And the fact that some are actually going along with it is scary and appalling.

Oh good God - John Pilger is on BBC News comparing Assange with... wait for it.. Aung San Suu Kyi.

Cos they is just the same, innit.

Tiggeryoubastard · 04/02/2016 13:51

I'm just listening in disbelief. Is Pilger even from this planet?

Other people that Assange is not like: Malala Yousafzai; the Dalai Lama; OliviaMumsnet; Cecil the Lion.

Confused

Maybe they are the same if you believe that men have a human right to use women's bodies for sex. If so, you might see Assange as a defender of that right.

Does anyone know how the UN even got involved in the first place?

I don't get it at all and I don't see why it's the UN's business at all. The UN are a bit of a joke really.

Man I knew I could rely on mumsnet for some sane discussion of this horrible man.

Horrible excuse of a man.

There is a twat man on sky news just now arguing that he should be given compensation
Why doesn't he get arrested and prove his innocence
News reader is at least arguing the womans case

Report
SunnyL · 04/02/2016 15:31

Technically he doesn't have to prove his innocence - it is for the Swedish authorities to prove his guilt. However his refusal to engage with the justice system means these women who have accused him will ever see justice - whether he is guilty or not.

He is an arrogant nasty man who believes the laws don't apply to him.

And what a great idea for a thread ! A list of brave, inspirational people, still alive, who are not like JA. In the slightest.

The reason he is a bit like Aung San Suu Kyi is because the same UN committee also ruled that she had been arbitrarily detained when she was placed under house arrest. So there you have it...both arbitrarily detained...peas in a pod.

I was arbitrarily held at the post office the other day in a long queue. Woe is me. Yes I could have walked out I suppose but then my parcel wouldn't have been sent
