5yo injured Syrian boy missing on the Continent (distressing)

I'm not sure where best to put this, apologies if I have the wrong category.

Via another thread I learned about the 5yo Syrian boy Azam Aldaham, who was shown on Panorama recently. He has not been seen for several weeks, having been taken from a Belgrade hospital despite having a broken jaw. Full story here

He is travelling with men who are not his parents and there is now great concern for his safety.

Please consider joining the Thunderclap which is a social media campaign to notify as many people as possible at one time. Raising awareness in this way is an excellent way to get the message across to multiple countries at once. The men Azam was with are heading for western Europe and could well be in one of any number of countries by now.

And another bump. Still 50 people needed to spread the word.

Very worrying

Any news?

Absolutely none as far as I can see.

However, the BBC has picked up on the story today. (Serbian papers have been covering it all week apparently.)

If it just gets a little more exposure, then someone who has seen him is sure to become aware that he's missing. He could well be safe and being treated in one of any number of countries in Western Europe. There are many refugees arriving in the country I live in, for example.

He has not been sighted for a month so the news could be very bad. But until then, there's still hope.

So irritating that the word can only be spread using Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr as I don't use any of those.

as soon as I saw this thread title I knew it would be this little boy. I watched the panorama programme he was on, it was awful, the man he was with said he was his father but the boy said he was his uncle. He was taken to hospital very reluctantly but the man left with him without him getting any treatment. He said the boy was run over by a taxi, his face was all bruised and his jaw was broken, although the man said he'd just hurt it..he was shown sitting alone on a stool and crying for his mummy Sad

very very sad and distressing.

I've shared on my facebook for exposure.

This is really upsetting. I hope that poor love is ok.

Rhonda yes, I only use FB.

Some people have been contacting refugee centres in various countries. I seriously considered putting up posters in my city (decided my efforts could be put to better use elsewhere). But if you can think of anything else you should go for it.

I feel so powerless and hopeless, I know there are many children suffering in the world and in my own city, I do what I can for them (which isn't much, though I firmly believe that every donation of goods/money/time is important) but I just feel drawn to try to do more for this specific child.

Oh God - this is horrific. I can't even watch the video in the article you linked to.

Just wish there was something else we could do apart from raising awareness on social media.

ssd I deliberately haven't watched the programme. I saw some stills and read the details and that was more than enough. My DS is the same age so imagination does the rest.

No words.

Also a FB page which you could share
if you're on Facebook, with a few ideas about what they're doing and other help they need.

I've sent the FB link to DD and she says she'll share it. She's at uni so hopefully it'll get a wider audience.

The Syrian migration situation is a sex traffickers dream
There was a man who seemed to be attaching himself to vulnerable people in the Panorama program. He was seen at the beginning with a woman and 2 children and said he was her brother, then it turned out he'd only just met her. Said he was helping her because she was a woman on her own but she'd got angry with him and told him to go away.
Later in the program he was seen with a woman in a wheelchair, then there was a shot of him carrying a young child.
The reporter called him a "chancer" and said he might be doing this to get priority at border checks etc, but he could have more sinister reasons.
