Whilst forgiveness is an admirable trait to have his fellow captee was beheaded.

I have to say I think he should never have gone. All the consequences were foreseable (sp) and i have not idea what he thought he would achieve.

Yes, he should give evidence, for the sake of the family of the poor man who was beheaded. It would be up to him, of course, whether he requested clemency for the accused whilst he was there.
