During the Vietnam war, the CIA recruited Hmongs, an ethnic group originally from China to help thwart the communists. They faught alongside American soldiers, in a 'secret war' unknown by the Amercian public and denied by the government. Some subsequently settled in the States, others remaned in Wat Tham Krabok Refugee Camp, north of Bangkok, Thailand.

This photojournalistic montage depicts the camp and follows a family as they move to the States.

There was a wonderful exhibition about the Hmong here at the children's museum in Lafayette. It showed exactly how the lived with touch and feel exhibits and even clothes that they used to wear. Made me fully appreciate what these people went through

Thanks for that link. I have lived in both Vietnam and Thailand and was aware of the legacy of problems in both coutries as a result of the Vietnam war. Didn't realise the the US were still issuing visas for those in the refugee camps though.

Very moving footage.

i remember reading about the Hmong people in a sunday times feature earlier this year. What they have had to go through is beyond belief. History repeats itself.
