There is more to life than work, but sometimes you gotta work to keep the roof over your kid's heads!
I had my dd at 26 and whilst I love her to bits in many ways I wished i'd waited to find Mr right and get a bit more established in my career

the system needs to change to fit in with women and children, it seems the govt just want women to work work work, having kids seems to be seen as a luxury item.

there is definitely more to life than work ,Cod - I've been a SAHM for 3 yrs - but I didn't meet my lovely dh until I was well into my 30s, so no early babies for me

This is not a risk-free process, either. Some women can suffer extreme side effects and even death from ovarian hyperstimulation.

Also, it's not been proven yet what the long-term effects of these huge hormone doses are on a woman's health.

I got a divorce when I was 30 b/c I wanted kids and he didn't, and I didn't feel there was anymore time to waste.

Barring meeting a man who was mature enough to want to have kids - next to impossible in Denver - I was exploring other options to parent, including having children to a gay male couple.

Prince Charming isn't coming, so if you want what you want there's no harm in going for it w/o him!

Couldn't possible have spent £2,500k freezing my eggs when I was in my 30's - as far too busy drinking myself stupid in bars. Or was I trying to buy a tiny flat so I would have somewhere to raise a child...or find a decent man who wasn't as drunk, or poor as I was? I forget now.

People have the info, they don't need lecturing about what to do with it!

Can I just say, I don't know ANY women who put it off b/c of work?

For ALL of them, it was b/c every man they met was a wanker or worse.

Of course, some were terribly picky, but there are a lot of arseholes out there.

One of hte last guys I went out w/before coming here used to parrot, 'Breeding's overrated' repeatedly. Until I told him in his particular case, it was.

Yes my fresh-not-frozen DS started year 1.

But we're on MN, so are Mums. i daresay there are many many 40 plus women who do wish they had frozen eggs. But it still isn't easy, even with frozen eggs, is it?

Here's what I thought when I saw it

  1. as IVF only has a 25% chance of succeeding that's a really really stupid plan

  2. its a scare tactic .. if they're advising that it will make women think about it a lot more carefully .. egg harvesting hurts and demands huge commitment

    so its a PR campaign to make people think they're not being told to have children earlier but they really are

    clever eh?

    (oh and you can't fight biology )
