Rana Plaza compensation fund

Apparently 15 companies have not contributed to the compensation fund for those affected by the collapse of the building in Bangladesh.
Does anybody know the names of the clothing companies that refuse to contribute to help those injured in the tragedy and the relatives of those who died?
Apparently Primark/Penneys has contributed the most so far. I think 7 million pounds out of a total of 11 million pounds.
Shame on those companies who refuse to help those affected.

There are a few names on this link - apparently some firms 'prefer to back their own alternative assistance programmes' Hmm www.theguardian.com/world/2014/apr/23/rana-plaza-disaster-oxford-street-demonstration
I assume the media know exactly who they are but won't say for fear of litigation. If only these companies paid their suppliers half of what they pay their lawyers then just maybe none of this would have happened.
I will say this for Primark, they seemed to pay up straight away without arguing.

Thanks for the link, Flo. Sadly seems some companies and bosses have no shame at all. Disgusting.

I thought more Mumsnetters would be interested in this topic and we might help to change things with the power of Mumsnet - women helping other women and children.
The power of our purchasing pound/ euro/ dollar.

So Matalan is backing its own thing?? What is that, exactly?

I agree, hollyisalovelyname - especially as there were a number of threads about it at the time.

I've no idea what Matalan or Benetton think can possibly be an acceptable alternative to compensating the families. Maybe we should email and ask them.

I heard a radio interview with a Primark representative a few months ago. He was talking about Rana Plaza and he hinted very strongly that at least one Bond Street retailer was involved. The interviewer commented on it afterwards. I suspect there are a number of high end companies who are shelling out millions (money that could have gone to the families) in order to keep their names out of the pubic domain. This will explain why we don't know who they are; they daren't let it come out that their so called 'luxury' brands are made in a sweatshop. If this is correct then I just hope they get their come-uppance.

I can't believe this thread garnered so
Little attention. Mumsnet is for Mums with children ( not only those women of course) so I thought they would like to help those children who lost their Mums in this tragedy and put pressure on retailers to donate to the fund. Afterall we women on Mumsnet have great power- Purchasing Power.

Holly I'm sorry there's been so little interest. It might be worth asking for it to be moved to Style and Beauty. There was a long running thread on there after the fire last year
