‘Naked Yoga’, mixed hairy bummed classes, why?

Isitmebut what sort of clientele do they expect to attract; wasn’t it Groucho Marx who said ‘ I wouldn’t join any club that would have me as a strange ‘member’? Or something like that. lol

“Naked yoga: the bare truth - it's already big in the US, and has now landed here”

www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/naked-yoga-the-bare-truth--its-already-big-in-the-us-and-has-now-landed-here-9259879.html
“Being naked in front of a classroom is something most of us will only ever experience in our worst nightmares. Yet here I am about to embark on a Naked Yoga class with people who have paid good money to bare it all in a room full of strangers.”

“In a dimly lit studio in south-west London, we undress in the shadows before practising a couple of hours of meditative yoga in silence with eyes mercifully closed, before we slink back into our clothes and leave without uttering a word.”

“In London, it's still very much a man's club, with all-male classes run by YogaNu and Altogether Yoga in London. Annette's mixed-gender class at Naked Yoga London is the only one of its kind in the whole of the UK.”

Surely it'll be closed down before it catches on?

Why would it be closed down?

IMO that answer is in the first para, this is London, full of 26 million(?) of 'all sorts', as how many court cases of lewd behaviour and bad publicity would there need to be before one way or another, they closed down?

Maybe if everyone signs a legal waver saying they don't mind strangers staring at their cracks when yogaring, it'll work.

I hope they all bring their own mats.

London's about 8 million or so. And getting naked in public is only a crime if done with the intent to cause alarm or distress. Since it's done at these classes with the intent to do yoga, no crime. Couldn't even do someone for voyeurism for watching, since the classes are public (enough for the purposes of the definition of the offence) and yoga isn't a private act. (And 'lewd behaviour' isn't an offence in English law, and I can't recall that it ever has been.)

For the avoidance of doubt, I've never done yoga and don't intend to, nor am I some manner of rampant exhibitionist with a powerful urge to flaunt my firm and manly person in public. I'm just a bit baffled by the idea that something as essentially harmless as yoga (albeit with the added weirdness of mass nudity) would attract that level of censoriousness.

“THAT level of censoriousness”?

Do you mean my doubt in human nature that in a mixed gender class, including naked women, assuming yoga positions, that it might, just might, attract the wrong people and one way or another the facility would be closed?

Well personally I don’t think that to date I’ve gone over the top, but it’s nice to know that there are people out there, with or without pert ‘bits’, that do not share my concern re the male species and women without any kit on.

Apparently in America you are not always safe with your kit on, and this wasn’t too hard to find within a pro yoga website.

'what sort of clientele do they expect to attract?'

Some Honourable and Right Honourable Members, perhaps?

Nah, they cannot bring their 'whips'.

See what I did there,,,'don't, please yourself missus.'

Claig...do you know if 'Yoga' is an authorized expense for MEP's monthly £3,500 allowances...actually it doesn't really matter does it...they don't need to show receipts to anyone, do they?

Nice 'protesting' on the taxpayer if you can get it.

Trying not to picture Downward Facing Dog and Happy Baby poses in the nude...

Love a bit of yoga personally, but not sure I'd want to see everyone's dingly danglies mid-class.

Probably why it's in a 'dimly-lit studio'. I hear pink light bulbs are very flattering Grin.

My BIL (hairy & substantial sort of chap, but lovely) did this!

He signs up to something, usually a class/workshop, which 'scares the shit' out of him, every year as a personal challenge.

I did say to him at the time that I'm more put off yoga by the non-stop trumping than by fear of catching sight of anyone else's danglies. He agreed that the trumping was a consideration.
