RIP Sue

Red socks today then. Adrian Mole is a year older than me, I grew up with him.

Oh gosh that's terribly sad. Adrian Mole is completely synonymous with my youth.

Yes just read that. RIP Sue. I loved Adrian Mole (doesn't everyone?) and also the Queen and I was it? Where the royals had to bunk up with a regular family.

Also really considered Pandora as dd's name but didn't in the end cos of box jokes. Was close though.

Very sorry to hear about her death. She's given me so many laughs over the years. And she came over as such a likeable woman.

Loved her writing. Just read the obituary linked above and I hadn't realised she had such bad luck with her health for so long.

Loved the 'Falklands under the toast crumb' diary entry and I'm sure everyone will recognise Adrian's gran not letting anyone else hold the baby! RIP Sue.

That's very sad.

Never got Adrian mole tho. Not a right of passage book for me. Couldn't stick the writing.

RIP - I loved those books. She always seemed to say such sensible things when interviewed too.

One awful Christmas when my DDad was really ill and lashing out at everyone I got 'The Diary of Adrian Mole'. Truly, it made the day bearable as I shut myself in my room and read it cover to cover in a day, laughing out loud.

Thanks to you Sue.

My mother has been moody all day. There's a box in the bathroom with predictor written on it. I hope she's not dabbling in the occult.

I could quote you all day long Sue. Rest in peace.

I genuinely believe that the Royals are exactly as they are portrayed in The Queen & I. Such brilliant comic writing.

Like many others I adored reading AM as a teenager (my copies have shattered spines) and then coming back to him years later and realising how many jokes had gone over my head! Will get them out for a re-read soon.

Sad news indeed. I grew up with Adrian and loved the books. Still have my original 'diary', a 12th birthday present in 1984.
