Wasn't this an awful story
In a perverse way I'm glad he is alive so he has to face up to what he has done and how how how lucky is that darling little girl
Devastating situation

I have just read about this story. Apparenty they were rowing and she threatened to leave him and take the children. He said he would take them first and jumped with both of them. The boy died and the girl is injured. He has a broken arm and leg. She's certainly going to leave him now, isn't she? He is under police guard and will be charged with premeditated murder.

Desperate or not there is NO excuse for what he has done.

I read about this. He is saying that he can not remember anything due to alcohol. yes he is a pathetic excuse for a father and the poor mother has to live with this. also his daughter will know her dad tried to kill her - very sad and tragic.

That's awful. Selfish bastard.. he tried to kill his own children just to spite his wife.

How convenient that he doesn't remember anything?

If that was my husband he would never see me or my children again.

Joolstoo · 17/08/2006 18:30

bastard! just sounds like, 'you're leaving me so you'll never see the kids again' without a thought for them

kills yourself if you want but your kids?!

In what way foxinsocks?

because you don't jump off the balcony with your kids unless there is something wrong with you mentally - I only wish he could have got some help before this happened.

and now he's survived and will live with the guilt of killing one child (and potentially never seeing the other one again)

he blamed alcohol though, would be interesting to know if he had any history of mental illness.

Haven't read the whole thread but I saw this in the paper today and felt extremely sad about it.

He's a selfish bastard!

Children should not be used as weapons when you argue with your partner.

Poor child.

It's not necessarily mental illness, at all. It sounds more like that classic controlling thing that often pertains to abusive men. I suppose their own horrible experiences contribute to people becoming that way but I often find it v hard to sympathise. How utterly tragic this is for everyone concerned.
