Some of her finest quotes in case anybody doesn't want to click.

"I am 42 years old and have been on a permanent diet for the past 30 years. The logic is simple and irrefutable: any self-respecting woman wants to be thin, and to be thin you need to spend your life on a diet."

"I don't believe overweight is ever attractive. Whether we like it or not, we live in an age and a part of the world where men and women regard thin as beautiful."

"I have no intention of letting my body slide flabbily into middle age. I believe that any woman with a modicum of self-respect should watch her figure with the same vigour."

"I was glad to see the back of Easter this month, as it seems to have been hijacked by the greedy masses who regard it as a free pass to gorge on chocolate."

"For three decades, self-denial has been my best friend. And one of my biggest incentives is that I know men prefer slim women."

"I have only ever dated men who kept a strict eye on my figure. My partners are not only boyfriends but weight-loss coaches."

"In the workplace, male bosses will always give the top job to a woman who looks fit and in control, rather than one who looks like a bulging sack in danger of imminent cardiac arrest."

"I fainted with hunger on one occasion - a minor hitch, eclipsed by the fact that I was being asked out on lots of dates."

"I am 5ft 11in and slimmed down to a size 8. One of my lecturers was so worried she pulled me aside to voice her concern. I put her intervention down to jealousy, as she was a size 16."

"Luckily for me, there is no better weight-loss incentive than a Frenchman. Pascal would not tolerate a fat wife and has told me that if I put on weight, our marriage is over. What more motivation do I need?"

"The world admonished Kate Moss for claiming that 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels' but I'd go further. As I see it, there is nothing in life that signifies failure better than fat."

I'm thinking of giving her the benefit of the doubt. She sounds as though she still has an eating disorder and is possibly in an emotionally abusive relationship, so isn't thinking straight.

On the other hand, she may just want another five minutes' of fame...

As someone who has never been happy with my figure (despite the fact i'm in a 'healthy' BMI range) this woman has made me feel like utter poo this morning.

But i know she's wrong. This is just her opinion. My friend is about four dress sizes bigger than me and is by far the prettiest woman i know. Size doesn't equal beauty. Nor does it guarantee success.

Personally, i'd have thought an employer would rather give a promotion to someone who was larger than someone fainting with hunger.

Can't be bothered. Sorry. Even reading her cretinous article would be a waste of 5 mn.

WillieWaggledagger Thu 18-Apr-13 08:43:55

she's a little dafty, not worth bothering about her opinions

XBenedict Thu 18-Apr-13 08:44:37

I'm sorry I can't bring myself to read her article but I did read you OP. So she might have a size 8 figure but she seriously lacks class and unfortunately for her comes across as an incredibly unpleasant woman.

LittleBoxes Thu 18-Apr-13 08:46:01

Stupid, stupid linkbait. Ignore.

Rosa Thu 18-Apr-13 08:47:16

Its the DM so not even bothering to look at it.. I am fat but fit . I want to be thinnner but am having trouble doing so . Articles written by pathetic people like her do nothing for morale or help those who are not happy with their bodies.

Alfiepants Thu 18-Apr-13 08:47:18

5 minutes ago she was devastated because she can't have kids and now her husband is ready to leave her if she puts on a stone? Oh do f^*k off love you really are a self promoting twat.

MaBumble Thu 18-Apr-13 08:47:21

She's a professional troll. Paid to get a rise out if people. DM has a few of them now. Ignore, ignore, ignore!

PatriciaHolm Thu 18-Apr-13 08:49:08

She's another journalist like Shona sibary; an opinion on anything for a price, a deliberately provocative one at that. Both of them would appear to have a million issues if even half of what they write is remotely true.

LousThighBurn Thu 18-Apr-13 09:06:43

In my very limited experience there will be men who find women attractive no matter what their size. It is women like Samantha that cause doubt and despair upon other women. It doesn't matter what your size, it is health that is more important surely?

Wannabestepfordwife Thu 18-Apr-13 12:43:21

Oh god I was beginning to like/sympathise with her but she's gone and undone it all.

I feel really sorry for her to be that insecure you constantly need to tear other women down its just sad.

FunnysInLaJardin Thu 18-Apr-13 13:01:14

sigh, what a pile of drivel. I really really should stop reading this kind of crap. Also an article about how WOHM's damage their children again today <shoots self>

FunnysInLaJardin Thu 18-Apr-13 13:03:41

Alfie I saw that too. She is the new Jiz Loans, a mass of stupidity

CarpeVinum Thu 18-Apr-13 13:08:49

Can't be arsed to read cos her basic thrust is always so tediously predicatable and deliberatly aimed intoturning ire into cash genersting clicks. So repaying like with like I will post my stock response to anything that comes put of S.Bricks word processing programme

duchesse Thu 18-Apr-13 13:13:10

Ooh, I love that carpe- hadn't seen it before.

HeathRobinson Thu 18-Apr-13 13:14:31

I feel sorry for her. She sounds like a very unhappy person. I would far rather be half a stone overweight, enjoy my food and be happy with myself. If DH ever said he would leave me for putting on weight I'd be off and save him the trouble!

FunnysInLaJardin Thu 18-Apr-13 13:22:50

MrsD then it must follow that you are super successful and have men falling all over you, you cow grin

Chandon Thu 18-Apr-13 13:23:09

she is a professional troll.

Also, very hard not to fall into the trap of pointing out she is not actually that thin or anything, quite average with bingo wings like most of us... I'd say, if I was going to say anything. But I wont wink

Can't be arsed to click the link. Dim but thin whoop whoop.

kasbah72 Thu 18-Apr-13 14:09:02

Is she only 42 ??? I thought she was 50+!!

Sleepwhenidie Thu 18-Apr-13 14:13:27

I really don't know whether to pity the self delusion of the woman (you'd think she was Angelina, married to a French Brad Pitt the way she talks hmm) or be impressed by the sheer level of smuggery being happy with yourself, which most of us should probably aspire a bit more towards.

Definitely not worth getting worked up about though, I seriously doubt she's a role model for anyone...

SignoraStronza Thu 18-Apr-13 14:14:48

Bloody lucky she's living in France then. In the land where ob/gynaes routinely inform women that their husband will leave them if they put on too much weight in pg (I know of three separate people this has happened to, including my anorexic sil) and where there's a docteur of psichotherapie on every corner I'm sure she fits right in. shock
