Cornwall councillor makes revolting comments to charity workers and refuses to step down. http://m.thisiscornwall.co.uk/story.html?aid=18257973 here

I feel like there should be more pressure put on him to go, but it seems that he'll get away with it Sad

A vile vile excuse for a man...

Good grief, he sounds like an absolute idiot.
I thought he had spectacularly misjudged a joke, but the crap about 'wanting to provoke a discussion because they'd had some difficult debates' shows a staggering lack of empathy or understanding. What a complete prat.

Just Shock
'I didn't mean any offence' I mean, come on. That's not even an attempt to justify himself.
What an absolute twat. He deserves to be sacked.

I just don't understand how he gets to stay in the role, it's mystifying.

I think he should be put down for being an ugly fucker! Angry

"I didn't mean any offence and didn't want to upset anyone."

Apparently they were meant to know he was playing devil's advocate and being deliberately provocative? What a great defence! Can we all say outrageously offensive things and then said we didn't mean to cause offence but were just playing devil's advocate?

PoppadomPreach · 26/02/2013 22:08

He surely has to go? How could he possibly imagine his comment would not cause offence. If he seriously didnt realise (which of course he did) then he is qualified to have this post.

Let's hope he gets sacked - in fact I might send an email to the council now demanding they do so. Horrible nasty thing to say Sad

I think Cornwall County Council is hoping this news will be buried and they can carry on as usual. The story needs national attention imo

He better hope he never finds himself needing help.

Jim Currie is the leader of the council if anyone else wants to send him an email.

Colin Brewer is a bit of a hot topic on twitter at the moment so let's hope the story blows up and he gets the boot.

He's an independent, no-one has any power over him except the electorate, and they have to wait until the next election. Usually councillors who do this sort of thing are forced out by their party. The standards board, which could have done something, has been abolished. Cheers Mr pickles.

Saw this earlier. Been sharing it on Twitter. Vile bastard.

Gotta love the "I'm sorry you are offended" line as well. What a twat.

well it seems to have picked up a lot more attention now, hopefully enough pressure will be put on him to leave.

Come on, surely this man has to go? Just unbelievable that he is still in post.

Thank God the hospital caring for my daughter when she was admitted at the weekend think differently to him, and cared for my (disabled) daughter with care, compassion, good humour and professionalism. The nurses were lovely, even taking the time to play card games with her.

Or if you want to let him know directly how you feel his email is [email protected].

I am gobsmacked (a) that Councillor Collin Brewer said what he said and (b) that he or anyone else sees fit that he remains in his position. How badly does someone have to behave before they are deemed unfit to hold a public office?

This story has made me more angry than any for a long, long time.

Report
ArcticRoll · 27/02/2013 17:07

I am shocked that he has been allowed to remain as councillor.
