Poor prince Phil, just read he's been taken into hospital again, he seems to be struggling health wise this year :(

Oh dear, that's not so good. :( Hope it's nothing major, the news says it's "a precautionary measure".

I've just put on SKY and saw this. It's a pity he can't just be ill in peace - they have rolling coverage which is based on next to nothing.

Hope he's OK, and that Princess Anne isn't too worried on her birthday.

DH has a theory that he's been ill for a while (maybe even passed away) during the olympics but they have been keeping it quiet till now so not to draw attention from the games. Hence the lack of Royal family at the closing ceremony. Harry did look abit sad and troubled that night too :(

Hope he's ok.
I guess old age catches up with all of us eventually.

He hasn't looked well since the Jubilee imo, I guess it's to be expected in his 90s.

He did look rather weary at the opening ceremony, but did n't he appear at the Equestrian events ?

I've been harbouring that thought pigley - not necessarily about Philly but that something had happened and they were keeping it under wraps.

Lovely conspiracy theory piglet Grin

that is Sad
according to the bbc "he was last seen at public engagements in Cowes earlier this week." so blows the conspiracy theory out the window.
something did seems amiss when senior royals were missing from closing ceremony.

The plan was always that the Queen would attend the Openings of both Olympics and Paralympics, but not the closings.

They've had such a demanding year, it's a pity this has interrupted their private R&R time.

Oh, what a horrible thought. I really hope it isn't true.

Hehe Grin We had quite abit of fun coming up with all sorts of theories during the closing ceremony. It just seemed odd how so many people weren't there.

Another theory is there had been a credible terrorist threat. Hence the queen and next two heirs weren't there. Harry is more dispensable.. Although I hope they didn't put it to him like that! Confused

Well if it´s another bladder infection, they´re right to take him in.

Can´t be too careful at his age.

My Dad was very very ill with one.

It was shocking how quickly it took hold & the damage it did.

Prince Phillip visited the town near me yesterday. He wasn't dead.

He's 90 ffs, he's had an amazing and lucky life.
If it's his time, it's his time.
I lost my mum at 80 at the end of May.
Old age happens, I feel the same sympathy as I would for anybody in the same position, we all feel the same pain.

It IS a shame he can't be ill in peace.

And with it being a urinary tract infection as well - all a bit private!

I wouldn't want to announce to everyone.

Widow like I said if it's his time, it's his time Grin
I'm not anti Royal, but a 90 year old stranger man who's ill in hospital isn't my first concern, though I know the media are going to cling on to this.

What a horrible post LBE.

He is a stranger to you but is a husband, father, Grandfather and Great grandfather and I am sure they are all worried about him.

I was stuck in morning rush hour traffic on the A40 a few months ago, with a friend. We pulled up alongside a range rover driven by a uniformed / peak capped chauffeur which seemed just so incongruous so I asked friend to peek. No tinted windows or private plates, but sat (slumped) in the front seat was Phil the Greek! couple of uniformed army officers in the back of the car. They turned off at Northolt so presumably taking a private flight.
Thought it was pretty flipping COOL that the ancient duke was low key enough not to take outriders and a tinted window Bentley, but has standards high enough to insist that the driver was fully formally uniformed (sadly philip looked politively skeletal and ill, but it was early...)
very much hope he hangs on a while longer. (republicans not welcome here)

Yes JustFab,As I said I'm not anti royal, and I agree his family will be worried about him.
My Mum recently died at 80, she had a urinary infection too,
I hope he gets better and all that, I understand the worry and the grief.
