It seems sanity has prevailed. Let's hope there are no more delays and the site is cleared ASAP

I agree, but there is still another appeal process before they can start evicting them I believe.

Terrible, isn't it? Why don't we just bring the gas chambers back, hmm?

Hate threads come in such bland guises at times.

And niceguy IS the most inappropriate username ever.

You actually support gas chambers for gypsies glasnost? That's appalling...

Report
glasnost · 14/10/2011 14:18

Ha bloody ha. Go and check your thread on the NHS. And anwer the points.

glasnost----are we the only ones care? Once again I ask where the bloody hell are they supposed to go?

Report
2old2beamum · 16/10/2011 15:31

Sorry missed out WHO. Silly old fart.

Report
edam · 16/10/2011 17:43

About ruddy time too.

Of course councils should provide sufficient legal sites. But that doesn't make the half of Dale Farm that is illegal OK. The law has to treat everyone equally (and once we've sorted Dale Farm out, let's move on to other people who are treated unduly favourably by the courts, such as the super-rich libel tourists).

Report
niceguy2 · 16/10/2011 20:42

Why? All I've ever done is say that the law should be upheld and those who have used every trick in the book to subvert our laws when it suits them should no longer be allowed to get away with it.

Don't see why that automatically makes me full of hate?

the councils should provide sites but how many have? i remember ours being discussed and the last time i looked most of the proposed sites have concrete barriers protecting the land.

they should have been alble to stay there.

where will they go now?

2old2beamum humanity is in ever decreasing supply, unfortunately. In hard times scapegoats are needed by the corrupt powers that be to deflect attention from the crimes they commit and it's always been gypsies' role. Where are they supposed to go indeed? I reckon the way's been paved by the media to bring the gas chambers back without too many ppl raising eyebrows.

To paraphrase a more famous statement
They came for the gypsies and I said nothing.
Then they came for the immigrants and I said nothing.
Then they came for the poor and the disabled and I said nothing.
Eventually they came for me and there was nobody left to say anything.

Bingo! Godwin's Law strikes again

Report
needanewname · 16/10/2011 22:31

Ok so for the people against the eviction, what do you propose?

Report
2old2beamum · 16/10/2011 22:35

Bloody hell snice and I thought I was being a smart arse!

Report
snice · 16/10/2011 22:37

I don't think you're a smartarse at all-just overly melodramatic perhaps

Report
glasnost · 17/10/2011 08:27

Overly melodramatic are the hysterical haters foaming at the mouth over gypsies daring to exist still and not to have been genocided out of existence.

And citing Godwin's Law is a desperate attempt to ridicule a perfectly valid fact (Nazi's eliminating at least 500,000 gypsies). That's true. A fact. Or are you a revisionist, snice?

Report
CogitoErgoSometimes · 17/10/2011 09:13

The only person who keeps mentioning genocide, Glasnost, is you. In the context of eviction, that is somewhere to the far right of melodramatic. The gypsies are being moved on legally, not herded to their deaths.

Our council has provided sites - with a shower block and laundry facilities and all the copper pipes and fitting have been ripped out and stolen - on more than one occasion.

"Herded to their deaths". That's a very revealing turn of phrase Cogito.

run!! hide!! the travellers are on the loose!!

really.

here's a grip //[[]] get a hold of it and live and let live ffs.

please?

they have lost their legal battle, and are now homeless. how can they be expected to try to live decent lives when such hysteria is rife?

Report
needanewname · 17/10/2011 10:49

I have to say I've not heard anyone suggest that they should be herded into gas chambers.

I have also not heard any valid reason as to why they should stay.

They knew when they arrived that they did not have permission to do so. I am amazed it has taken this long to get them evicted. I feel very sorry for the local residents and the travellers that are on the site legally - their name has been dragged through the mud with all of this and their reputation tarnished.

If I were to build something on my land without permission, I would rightfully be ordered to take it down. I'm struggling to see the difference
